I was wondering if the anxiety has something to do with the manic symptoms of bipolar?

Sure can, babe.......it is different for everybody. If it keeps going, talk to your doc and get your meds assessed. The anxiety can easily be brought on by the mania side efects......lack of sleep, no rest, high adrenaline states, not eating properly, racing thoughts and the like. I had to walk a lot when I was manic........had to be careful I didn't walk too far and get lost.

Anti psychotics helped me initially.......now I just take diazepam if I need it.

Good luck........

Yes it is likely.

Many times, BD comes with other illnesses (what they call comorbidity) affecting other aspects of your personality.

I agree with the other responses; anxiety is definitely heightened for me whenever I'm in a manic phase, such as right now. In fact, just yesterday I had my first anxiety attack in quite some time. Your doctor ought to be able to help if you are having that sort of trouble.

My hypomania manifests itself as intense anxiety. I really hate it. I had always assumed depression ends with a bunch of anxiety.

Uh...no. That would be how Amazonmom gets out of a depressive episode,by going hypomanic!

Gotta laugh at myself somehow...

Well help!!! I am in the middle of trying to find a med that works. Can't take lamatical and tried 600 mg of lthium no good. Also diagonosed with ADHA as well as bipo 2. Just started concerta. Things at work feel out of control, getting new manager who is changing schedules before she has even come to the store and meet any of her subbordinates. Feeling very stressed, anxiety to the roof. Had been of anti depress meds for 6 yrs prior to a year ago, felt like zombie, but nothing bothered or mattered. Now I want to explode!!!!!! Feel like I need something to calm my system.

There's a class of drugs called benzodiazepines (I think I have that right) that can be good for anxiety. So, there is treatment out there. I hope you have a doctor you can see; if so, I think that'd be your best bet. Let you doc know what's going on.

Ativan here. For me, anxiety symptoms can be similar to some parts of hypomania, but taking an anti-anxiety med clears it up.

when i am hypomanic i have acute anxiety and irritability. also have anxiety disorder that klonopin helps a lot. but when i'm hypomanic often even the klonopin only works a little. i just try to slow myself down, keep to myself as much as possible, and don't get into stressful places like malls, for me, and ride the hypomania out.
