I am going to group for the 1st time in my life. I have a friend who I met in the hospital; we were both being treated for bipolar and we both attempted suicide.

We are now both 33 and I notice by the experiences that I learned over the past two weeks along with the support and stories I have heard, I believe or actually know, he suffers from bipolar and thinks it will just go away, he is in denial about his situation.

The symptoms I see

 Insomnia
 Can’t handle money
 Several random ideas tries he never follows thru with
 Not being able to keep a job
 Depression

I have a completely different symptoms but some our similar.

At times he wants help when he is depressed but most of the times he is flying high and never sleeps for days. He makes Fast decisions and living the high life and suffering the consequences.

His dad died a few years ago and left him his town home and cash about 100K, He ended going thru the money and losing his town home in less than one year.

He really does not think he has a problem but I have convinced him to come to group with me, was this a good idea or did I pressure him to come?

Let me know

I think encouragement is good. Continue to be a proactive supporter for him. Good Luck, Pam.
