Just wondering about other bipolars experiences with Zyprexa.

I've only been on it for 5 days. Not sure what to expect. So far no side effects that I can tell. They say it causes weight gain in 3 out of 4 adults, but most only gain between 1 to 11 pounds.

Zyprexa made me feel very sleepy and confused. And I couldn't focus at all.

Zyprexa has been a wonder drug for a friend of mine. The only side effect was a 30 to 40 pound weight gain because it slows the system down quite a bit. I tried it once and slept for three days straight. It was heavily sedating. Good Luck. It is always worth a try. Sending good thoughts.

Wow, I must be an elephant then, 'cuz this tranq ain't takin' me down. Seriously, only tired when I don't get enough sleep. The first night I took it, I felt wide awake even with 60mg of temazepam. Now I take it with my nighttime meal.

Everything that's supposed to make you gain wt has so far not done that to me. The only thing that made me sleepy all the time was Seroquel.

Correction...there is a side effect I'm worried about...forgetting what day it is and short term memory loss and mixing up words that sound alike. eg: Saying criminal when I mean chemical. Weird. With my 5 meds though, not sure which is causing it.

Thinker, i had the same issue with mixing up words when i was taking seeroquel. Then there are the times I cannot come up with words and that is a scary thing especially when speaking with several people. Good Luck with the zyprexa. phoenix47baby

Still mixing up words or forgetting them altogether. A little off balance at night. No weight gain after a week, but supposedly you have to be on it for 6 weeks at least to evaluate weight gain. If anything, my weight is staying the same or less because my appetite has decreased since starting it. I must be a freak. I lost weight while on Seroquel and Risperdal too. This entire year my weight has been 106-110. It was only 106 something for a few days, though.

I am sleepy too and getting 9-10 hours a night, then waking up feeling tired still.

I'll write a new post if weeks from now I've gained 20 pounds. Thanks everyone for your input. Any more is also welcome.
