Does anyone get this side effect? When it happens, it feels like my cheeks are burning, like when you blush really hard, and my face evidently does get very red. I think I have it pin-pointed to when I take Valium, but I can't find anything mentioning this side effect, or listing it as a drug interaction.

It could be a side effect. Not all side effects are listed, just the ones that are reported to the FDA. Check out Askapatient.com. It has anecdotal reports of how meds affect people. I have found good info there. Just take it with a grain of salt and don't let some of the posts scare you.

Two ideas. Do you use an anti-fungal of any kind, such as ketoconazole? If not, do you take any supplements or vitamins that have niacin?

Either of those combined with bipolar meds can cause serious blushing.

Final thought. Alcohol, even in small amounts with some of our meds can also cause blushing.

I got this info from the drug interaction checker on webmd. Check it out if you want to see what med may be causing it:

hmm, I haven't used any anti-fungal's in quite a while, but I do try to take multi-vitamins. Will have to notice if it seems to happen on the same days.

It's taken a few painful trial and error episodes, but I'm learning what should have been duh-obvious (since it's plastered on the bottles.) Drinking and crazy pills don't mix.

I know, Re: the drinking. I'm guilty of doing it. I fainted one time and ever since then I've been pretty cautious. I'm on non-alc beer these days.

The one that made me blush in the past was niacin. I had to switch protein powders to one without niacin. I have a shake every night. It's yummay.
