hi, i think i've had bipolar disorder since 2008 (or 2007..). i also believe i have add. my parents are part of the reason why i'm like this (details will be spared) and i don't want to go to a doctor and hurt their feelings in any way.
i don't know how much longer i can take being in hiding.

help me please!!

(ps: today, i took 4 quizzes. i got a 46 for depression, 55 for mania, 73 for add, and 104 for the sanity quiz. and i don't even feel that up and down today... )

Nowadays, I like to keep my disorder to myself, but I still need help from time to time. I see a psychiatrist once a month (sometimes longer) and it helps, but I don't tell my friends or parents. It helps, but this site actually helps more with trying to vent, discuss, or connect with people having the same issues. Just posting and reading the threads really helps me understand some of the difficulties I face.

This really helps me break out of my shield and put down some of my defenses.

I hope this helps.

I am sorry you have to keep this to yourself. Is there any way you can get to a doctor privately. Bipolar untreated is not a pleasant disorder to have. You deserve to get the proper help. I hope you will do so........

I agree highly - Bipolar with medication, or self medicating is not a disorder someone can manage on their own.

No matter what the cost - I had to get help. No matter who knew
Thanks for this!

I'm sorry that you have this problem with the highschool councillor. Some are wonderfull but all too many of them wouldn't know a real psychiatric crisis if it landed on their head and stared them in the face. The posters who just wrote are very right about one thing. This is not a disease that it is wise to try to handle without care. I realize you know your parents better than I, but if you were my child, I would want to have this caught and treated faster than fast to prevent the kind of trauma that can accompany the mood swings. Even if I was part of the reason that you developed this.
Again, you know your folks, but your safety is probably a big priority for them. I may be wrong, but.... Huggs anyway. I really wish you had more support right now.
Thanks for this!

Ah counselors...well, they're insanely busy people...
well, I'm sure they would help...after all, they're not terrible people.
thanks lonegael.
Thanks for this!
