Have you ever charted your moods? Check online for bipolar mood charts. There are a variety out there. It would be a way of concretely communicating to your pdoc where your moods are, what you consider within normal, and where it changes into a bipolar shift. You and your pdoc can discuss the chart and different levels of mood. It can really be a valuable tool for your pdoc. And it's also a great way to get in touch with your own moods. You'll start to see patterns. You'll learn to recognize when your sliding. Might be something to try.

Yeah, I agree with farmer... I have been using a mood chart for about 3 months consistently every day now and it's interesting to see where my moods go. I think the important thing to realize is that you're allowed to be in a bad mood or feel sad or even feel happy for that matter without it being pathologic and needing treatment. Maybe your pdoc assumes when you talk about mood changes that you think it's because of the bipolar disorder and you want a change of meds? Maybe you could explain to the pdoc that you don't understand why it seems like he/she changes meds every time you say something about your mood... ask her/him to explain their rationale to you. They should be more than willing to do that, if not, maybe you should see someone else... not sure what your exact situation is. Take care.
