On this site, I have posed a question that is particular to my situation. Basically, it is that when I'm slightly hypomanic I have no angst nor intrusive thoughts. But when my mood is reigned in by my psychiatrist, my anxiety and/or intrusive thoughts return. I wanted to find out if someone had a solution for this so that I could safely have a normal mood, yet not have to suffer with angst nor intrusive thoughts.
So far other doctors won't consult with me because I'm not their patient. My doctor says it is just the peculiarities of my particular illness. Her answer does not satisfy me. Hence, I have decided to ask fellow patients if they have come across a similar situation, and if so what did they learn, any particular drug combos that work, etc. Unfortunately, so far my response has been quite thin and not focused upon what I was truly seeking. Nonetheless, I appreciate any feedback that I so far have gotten. Thus, and because, I know this to be a strong bi-polar chat group, I am asking you guys if you know of other forums where I may post my specific clinical question to either fellow patients or knowledgable bi-polar doctors. Help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you |

I had a similar conversation with my psychiatrist today and she was talking about when the wrong meds are prescribed, they can cause anger and anxiety. Maybe it has something to do with your meds and if they are right for you. My doctor was talking about antidepressants and other drugs like Klonopin or Ativan, Xanax, things like that working against bipolar mood swings to cause the unwanted anger and irritability.
I don't know if that addresses your situation. As far as other bipolar supports, there is DBSA (depression, bipolar support alliance). I am sure if you Google it you will find some others. |
