I got a call yesterday from my SSDI case worker and he said that I was approved.

I thought there were two components. I thought there was a medical component and a vocational component and I am pretty sure he was only working on the medical component...

I am confused, but that was a little bit of good news. I don't want to get my hopes up until I get a letter (and a check) but there is a little bit of hope brewing there.

Not to FALSELY get your hopes up, but I only had one call, one letter and it was final. You are talking about Social Security Disability, right?

When you meet with them (or next talk to them) ask when your first review will occurr. And also, be sure you know the regulations regarding any income from part time work in case down the road, you decide to work part time. They always start sending you stuff about going back to work, encouraging you to try working and it gets confusing. They make you think it's ok that you work while on SSDI but then you find out each month you work counts against you and how much you make counts against you, etc. So be sure you know what those rules are. They are easily accessible online at www.ssa.gov.
