I'm all maniced out and can't stay asleep more than two hours a night...so my Psych gave me 100mg of Seroquel to help me sleep.....So last night I woke to a scratching and skittering noise on the roof of my house.....at least I think I woke up, but now I don't know...but I went up in the attic and something was scratching and fluttering like a bird outside...so I banged on the inside of the roof and it left....I think.....but today I think I maybe hallucinated the whole episode.....and I don't think it was a dream because the pullstring for the attic steps was up, and I always leave it down....I've had a terrible problem with squirrels in the attic last fall...maybe it came back to haunt me in my mind......It just freaked me out thats why I'm posting it......hope it doesn't come back to haunt me..
P.S.....I'm done with the Seroquel.. ![]()

Ask your Psych to try Abilify - I'm having pretty good luck with it. Seroquel left my face, arm. and chest all scared, becasue I broke out in hives.
We increased my Abilify to 5mg but I starting to break out in hives again so have to go back to 2.5mg. But Abilify works for me - keeps the deep depression away. Good luck.

I take Seroquel to sleep and I have the most vivid dreams. In fact, I dreamed I was hallucinating this morning just before I woke up. In my dream I woke up and was seeing a face in my wall that was fading in and out. The only reason I know it was a dream is because it took place in my childhood bedroom, but it felt as real as being awake until I woke up for real.

I also had vivid dreams when I was taking Seroquel (but I was taking 25mg and a few other meds so hard to tell what that was from). I did sleep walk a few nights according to my roommate at the time. Nothing major though. I took either 25 or 50mg... doc left it up to me to play with the dosage. Mayeb 100mg was just too much. Maybe you could get by with just 25mg or something. It worked for a while... Took just enough of the edge off so I could sleep. Now on something else with new pdoc. I don't know what else you've tried but again, maybe you could back off the dose and you wouldn't be affected as much. Good luck!!

Seroquel landed me in the hospital on a dose of only 50mg. Same reason, to help the mind settle down and help me sleep. Messed up my heart and gave me a panic attack where I didn't even feel the symptoms because I was barely conscious. I am now afraid of all atypical-antipsychotics.
But I think you should talk to your doc about it.

I know now that the squirrel was trying to get back in my attic (I saw it today), but I was so under the influence of the Seroquel I thought it was an hallucination. I've been stressed lately with the snow and the no sleep thing so I needed something to bring me down enough to get some shuteye.......but the Seroquel wasn't it this time....I can't chop the dose in half cause they are XR's......so I'm going to try some trazadone which I've used in the past but made me nauseous......................That squirrel has got to go..it's flippin me out more than no sleep!
Thanks for the replies..........all are noted......

Hi you guys, I'm new on the site. Your posts have got me thinking. I am on a massive dose of Seroquel - 800mg - yes that's right! But I do need to be on that much and no, I have no sleepiness during the day after taking as a night time med. I am on several other high octane meds. I have Bipolar as well as panic and anxiety Disorders and I have experienced what you guys have described with terrible panic attacks, often coming straight out of sleep into a fully blown panic attack and a horrifying nightmare in between with horrific auditory halleucinations - and I am frozen stiff so much that I can't even move a finger for fear of the man or the people in the house (all delusional) coming to get me if I move an inch. I wonder could the Seroquel actually be contributing to this? Mind you I have had this scenario for years (infrequently thank God), many years before I started on psych meds, so it's hard to know if it's the illnessess or the medication. Dam. lol

It is unlikely that it is the psych meds, especially antipsychotics like seroquel as their function is to stop psychotic thinking such as hallucinations. You can check on www.rxlist.com to look for side effects.

Seroquel is a drug with many side effects. I don't trust that they have told the complete truth to the public, since it has been proven in court that AstraZeneca buried studies of Seroquel. I'm suing Seroquel for causing Diabetes Insulin dependent, Pacreatitis, weight gain, and a tumor on my adrenal gland. I was completely healthy before taking this medication. I took it for 3 1/2 years at 900mgs. The medication works, but at what price?

It sure worked on me.....This particular dose was for sleep induction only, and I haven't been on long term therapy with Seroquel, and it was rather a low dose. It is a powerful drug , though, and I think it drowsed me out so much I didn't realize (through my haze) what was real or not.....I've been on a few meds for bipolar dep. a while so maybe the cocktail caused a bad response.
Anyway, still can't sleep, even trying trazadone doesn't keep me asleep long...and the doc doesn't want to give me an addicting drug (I'm alcoholic), so I just keep typing and typing here at the computer....maybe I'll get drowsy.....but I'm not going to worry about it much...................
