I have a very good pdoc and psychologist. I was telling the story of how I met my pdoc.
I was in the psych ward after an attempted overdose. As soon as I got to the ward I signed myself out. Then there is a 12 hour wait before you can be released. In the morning, the pdoc can in, sat down, and asked "Are you going to leave?" and I said "Yes". She said if I left the police would be waiting at my door and take me to court and I would have to wait until she could get there. Then I would be involuntarily committed. When I was ready to be released I would have to stay until she could get back to court to end the commitment. Then she asked, "Are you going to leave?" and I said "No". I like her straight-forward manner and that she didn't sugar coat and she also saw that I did what was right for me. |

I'm glad you found a pdoc who is strong enought to be straigh forward with you. I'm really proud of you, that you decided to stay and get the help you needed. I wish I would have been so lucky. My first therapist scared me and not in a helpful way - I went backwards instead of going forwards with him; my first psychiatrist never talked to me, I did all the talking and she just kept prescribing drugs. My present pdoc is very streight forward in a gentle way, took me off most of the dugs and reduced my dosages of two med of the 4 meds I was taking. This sight was Heaven Sent! I believe it's saving my life - it gives me a place to talk, vent, and even offer help to those who are in need. If I feel I can't help I offer encouragement. I'm go happy that you have a pdoc you can trust!
