Anyone have any experience with this med? I was given samples of it today. I didn't even know what type of med it was until I got home. It's an atypical antipsychotic.

Here's the deal. I take Geodon 2x a day and have daytime drowsiness. So I saw the p-doc today and she said to take Geodon only at night and also to take one tab of this Saphris. I'm confused as to why I would need 2 kinds at once.

I do hear a vicious voice if I don't take my Geodon twice daily, so I'm worried that if I just take each of these one time in a 24 hour period, that they will wear off before the next dose.

Saphris only came out in August of 2009. I wonder if I'm the only one who's on it around here.

I wonder if it's even correct to prescribe two atypicals at once. Don't most of them have warnings about that? I can't find any warnings like that, but there's not much info about it online.

Thanks for any help.

If these meds are extended release the should carry you through the day. You can also call your pharmacist who will probably be able to give you more information. They are pretty good about not filling any drugs that may pose adverse effects with the drugs you are currently taking. Its good that you are keeping an eye on what your being given. Many of us forget that its human beings who are prescribing this stuff, and they do make mistakes!!!

I was given samples of Saphris, so no pharmacist knows I'm on it. I read online that you can overlap it with other anti-p's but that this should be temporary and the p-doc said nothing about that. She just gave me 3 weeks of samples and said I'm supposed to keep taking Geodon. How temporary is temporary?

The Saphris is sublingual, dissolves immediately, and had me conked out in less than an hour after I took it last night. I had to nap for a couple of hours before I even went to bed for the night.

I hope my morning Nuvigil will combat the tiredness today in the absence of my second dose of Geodon.

Thanks guys.

I thought the same thing too when my doc put me on Prozac, when I was already on Effexor. Seems to work out well though.

Just make sure you don't start developing any kind of tics. I know when I take higher dosages of anti-psychotics I tend to develop facial tics.
Thanks for this!

I generally give my treaters the benefit of the doubt in the sense they seek to help me and to prescribe meds to serve that purpose.

I usually do too. The benefit of the doubt thing. Just two atypicals seemed strange. I took it again last night and went to bed early. So far the voice hasn't come back, so either Geodon is still strong in my system or the two of them are keeping it away all day long.

Yesterday I had energy until about noon, then I got tired and dazed. By 3 I could hardly focus and my brain felt like molasses. I had difficulty communicating my mental processor felt so slowed down. I was just staring at nothing and it felt like my brain was missing parts. Like a white light was shining in it or something. Can't explain really. But I got better as the evening wore on. I wonder if that was Geodon withdrawal.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. I'll be in touch if Saphris helps or causes problems. Who knows, some day you might be on it. But I don't wish it on you. Not yet anyway.
