I was told to take it at night but it was my day off and I was curious so I took one this afternoon. After last month's super fun Geodon experiment I'm wondering how long until side effects/potential benefits kick in. I've had a lovely afternoon (maybe also because of an unexpected visit from my "friend") but so far no acid vision or the side effect ickiness of Geodon.

Topomax is not nearly as awful as geodon, in my opinion. I am prescribed it right now, but because of a kidney stone problem, I haven't been taking it for the last few weeks. One side effect that was really hard for me to deal with was the constant feeling of nausea. Perhaps that is why so many people lose weight when they take it?
I was prescribed a twice daily regime, I think it would have been easier for me if I could have taken it only at night.

I would so take the insane side effects of Geodon over Topamax. At least you can take congentin with Geodon to counter the bad side effects (tics, seizures, passing out at random times). There's not a pill that you can take with Topamax to make you smarter.
![]() Be careful with Topamax, if you don't get the mg in the right range, it will screw with your temporal lobe functioning correctly. I had a month of being stupid. People would ask me what I was working on, and I would be looking right at it, and I wouldn't be able to tell them. I would just point to my screen and say "this." |

What happened with Geodon? Just curious. I take it, have since February, and haven't had any problems come up yet.

The first time I had tics, the second time I had tics and had to stop taking it after I had a seizure. I would also just pass out around 20-30 mins after taking it, and I'm not talking about taking it then going to lay down, I used to just pass out where ever I was, and my husband would have to carry me to bed since he couldn't wake me up.

Geodon made me have zero mania but apart from that I was in side effect land. My depth perception and spatial reasoning were all kinds of messed up, if anyone has any experience with hallucinogens it wasn't totally unlike that feeling of everything looking wonky. I had suicidal thoughts which is REALLY not me. I was supposed to go up from 40 to 80 but every time I took two I was totally immobilized the next day. In fact I didn't do much of anything besides watch tv for a month. I think it made my anxiety worse, although with me it's hard to tell, and I was pretty all around miserable.

Topamax I noticed the positive effects immediately but they were subtle. With higher dosages I have tingling in my fingers and toes, but with too high a dose I have trouble with word recall. Doc warned about this. I might try to say something like "book", but other words beginning with "b" will come out instead. Dose is too high.
Increasing water intake is REALLY important on Topamax and to watch for overheating such as when outside, doing yardwork, exercising, etc... Just be careful. Started taking it for migraines but had the added bonus of helping with cycling and racing thoughts, even lowered bp med. Hope it goes well! -Fresia |
