Hey everyone,

Right now I'm going through a med change which isn't quite stabilizing me yet...so I find myself sometimes getting symptoms of mania. Let me give you an example:

Today I went for a walk and felt the need to walk a long distance and find the perfect letter "t" on a sign that looked like a cross...the religious type. So I did. THEN I felt the need to dip my feet in water up to my ankles (some sort of baptism thing). All the while, I felt quite anxious and paranoid.

For now I am able to tell a nurse soon after these types of things happen. The feelings of mania usually last a few hours, I ask for some extra seroquel, and I eventually calm down.

Until my meds get changed so I don't feel this way, does anyone have any self-help advice for battling these brief manic periods? I'd like to be able to help myself. I'm afraid I might get a dangerous delusion and act on it. Thanks.

Since you are inpatient at a psych hospital, I would suggest that you tell the nurses and your doctor that you fear you may harm yourself so they can take precautionary measures to make sure you stay safe.
