Hi,
I have Bipolar Disorder and although i'm not in any type of episode right now I am hearing voices but like they are in my head.. it's quite hard to explain really... is this normal and does anyone else experience this? Its like i can actually hear different voices all at the same time and they are noisy and it's not like im thinking. It's confusing me so much and just makes me want to scream and bash my head!! |

I agree, you need to call your pdoc right away. This is not generally a good sign.

I don;t think hearing voices is a symptom of BP, but it could well be something else.
If it does go with BP, it's more likely to be mania - are you experiencing any other symptoms? Have you spoken to your pdoc? What does he say? |

Oh yes, I get that way when I am really distressed or have way too much going on in my life. I have talked to my NP and T, they say it's not totally out of the norm, but if it get's really bad and is stressing you out (which it sounds like it is) then, yes I agree that you need to see your pdoc!!!

My head gets really full and busy, but I cannot "hear" any specific words or sentences. It's a horrible, busy feeling

Thank you to all of you. This has been useful information.
I am experiencing racing thoughts at the moment and getting irritable at times and feeling a bit paranoid but I don't feel like i'm in an episode of any sort that's why it's confusing me. I see my pdoc in 6 weeks so i'm going to wait until then as they aren't telling me to do anything so i'm not feeling like they are in control just that they are there and it's getting a bit too loud for my head. If it gets any worse though I will make an appointment to see my pdoc. I have outer body experiences as well does any one have these? My head is just a bundle of confusion right now. |

I know for a fact if they were voices as in schizophrenia you would know it. They are that real. I hope you NEVER have to hear what I do. Stay away from the out of body thing. It is jacked up. I wish you peace always. |

Thank you MickG... I wasn't thinking I had schizophrenia but they do sound like real voices and I don't control them like I can hear them but I know they are in my head but I guess i'll just have to mention it to my pdoc. Sorry to hear they cause such a problem for you MickG (())). How do you mean stay away from the outer body thing? I don't try to have them they just happen.

@Hemulen...I think it has really something to do with racing thoughts...I had experienced hearing voices that come from my head...When I had an acute episode, I even thought my thoughts were known by others...difficult to explain but very very distressing. I hope you get the treatment that you need this time

Ok, I've got to jump in here......
I was hearing "America the Beautiful" over and over and over, when I had quiet moments. I thought I was just plain......well, you know......crazy, and I took pains to rule out every possible reason for it playing in my head: I just heard it on tv or background to a football game or something!.....but it was there, all on its' own. That eventually left, after Lithium and Abilify.....which were both eventually swapped or reduced (Lithium gave me intolerable side effects). My Abilify was miniscule, then stopped because I now have Tardive Dyskinesia, and we're experimenting now. As an aside, I had switched from "America the Beautiful," to some kind of jumbled network news. Hoping it doesn't return.....it's not actually normal (at least in my case) and I do have BP...... I guess what I'm trying to say is no matter how weird it sounds, don't hesitate to put it out there (like I originally did up to this point).......someone is going to able to relate ![]() |
