I have been researching things about Bipolar Disorder and really think that this is what I have.
The problem is that I am only 17 and cannot seek professional help without my parents knowledge or money. Im afraid to tell my mom because she might think that Im just being a teenager or going through a phase. IDK what to do! Can someone please help me? ![]() |

Can you ask your parents if you can go in for a regular check-up with your family doctor? Just say you've been feeling tired or sick or something...then you could talk to the GP about it...otherwise I don't have any ideas. Sorry if I wasn't any help, but

I agree, go to your GP first and see what he/she has to say first. If it is bipolar then you can tackle telling your mother at a later date. Just be sure first that way you have something concrete to present her with if she tries to say that.

Let the GP tell his mom, part of his job and they will take the doctor seriously.

I have 2 cousins who were DX'd@13&15so don't worry about your parents thinking its a phase. When my aunt&uncle found out ho bad their kids felt they were willing to do whatever it took to help them. My PCP explained it to my fiance who thought I would just get over this. Ask your PCP for help&they can tell your parents for you.
Good luck&keep posting! |

I think you'll often be surprised how much help is out there, and how willing friends and family are to accept and help you
