i'm on 200mg. i had a blood test and the level is on the bottom of the therapeutic level at that dose. it depends on how fast u metabolize the drug and how sensitive u are to the meds.
not sure how you will feel on higher dose, no one will know until you take it, good luck hope it works for you as well as it has for me. though i think i will try to get my dose upped. i think because i'm on the low end of therapeutic level i sometimes dip below it.

I'm on 400mg now, which I didn't actually think they go up to. But my psychiatrist put it up to that recently and I trust him - he is the best diagnostitian, and the best at knowing the benefits and side effects of meds that I have had. It took a long time to get up to that level though - about 10 months, including a period in the psych ward in November to lift the dose.

I have been through the whole guineau pig sceanrio in testing through meds for many years and I find that having Lamictal in the meds arsenal has chnaged me so much for the better. I see many good reports about it from Bipolar patients on this and other mental health sites. I hope it works for you too.

I'm on Lamictal and Cymbalta, 100 mg of lamictal and 30 of cymbalta. Lamictal has done wonders for me! Hoping to increase my dose to 150-200 and get off of Cymbalta. Cymbalta is being lowered slowly, but I'm scared a little bit. Anyway, good luck with the increase and that dose is the norm

I take 150mg of Lamictal. The amount needed will vary from person to person depending on what your mental health needs are. Hopefully you will see results soon.

I just started taking Lamictal on 4 days ago and I'm on 25mg at the moment and I feel the change already. I'm going up to 50mg in another week. I still have my episodes of mania but they are not as nearly as bad as they use to be. Good luck to everyone!

I've been on 200mg Lamictal since I found out I couldn't tolerate Lithium. I had been on a lower dose of Lamictal, with Lithium, prior to that. Also had some Abilify in the mix.....but my pdoc has changed that to Seraquel. I hope this new combination starts to pull me out of the hole I'm sliding into. The Lamictal seems to be a good fit......but I know I'm on the low end of therapeutic because I'm very sensitive to meds. Wishing you the best......greylove

I take 300 mgs of Lamictal. I was on 400 and I couldn't tell a difference when my pdoc dropped me to 300. When I first started taking it it was tough to get used to, but I wouldn't think that you will tell a difference going from 250 to 300. Take care!

I just started it too. 25 mg for a week and a chance of 25 mg per week for 4 weeks. I really hope this is the right diagnoses and correct medicine this time.

Good luck to you

I'm on 200mg/day. I never actually had any side effects from it so I guess I lucked out. I have noticed a difference in taking it, though I am not sure yet if the dose is high enough yet. I think I could benefit from a little more and actually plan on talking about this next time I see the doc.Anxiety is still somewhat of an issue but I got Paxil for that.

I did fine on 100 mg. I'm on 150 mg now and I didn't even really need to change. I'm not going up unless I have further bad episodes. A note, though, a am currently taking the brand name Lamictal and have had serious problems (as in it didn't work at all and I became psychotic and suicidal) with the generic. But anyway, about doses--we're all different. Don't keep going up and up and up unless you need to. The docs like to get people up to "maintenance" doses, but in my experience much less often works. Why take so much when you can increase as needed and probably extend the efficacy of the medication and its functionality in the brain?

Also, on the brand name Lamictal I have zero side effects. My appetite is generally lower but that could be stress, the Wellbutrin combined with it, or really anything. But yeah, no side effects at all.
