Just wondering if anyone has done therapy sessions over Skype. Skype allows you to do voice/video calls, so I would be speaking to my therapist while at home with my computer.

The reason I ask this is my Psychologist has been experiencing health issues and wants to continue our sessions over Skype. I haven't tried it yet and I will, but my issue with it is I really like my Psychologist's energy and I wouldn't get that through the computer. I'm also not a big computer person. Other than this site and e-mail I barely use my computer.

Just thought I'd see if anyone else has tried this. I do like my Psychologist and I have been seeing her for over a year. Thanks!

My husband uses Skype with his business partner and we've had a couple conferences with our sons/grandchildren. It's relatively easy once you set it up and you can get some of that energy/personality of the other person. I have done voice school work with classmates in other parts of the world (me Maryland, USA, they, Australia and a third in Washington, D.C.). I would maybe give it a try and see if you like it or not and then the two of you can decide if it's good for you/what you want.

I use it to see my niece, it is fairly interactive, not as much as being there, but I guess you don't pick up your therapist and spin them round the room!!!!

It depends on the internet connection, most of the time facial expressions and speaking is fairly close to real time, not different enough to put you off. Occasionally, the video will freeze or go a bit crazy and then jump back into place. It's really easy to get used to.
Much easier than finding a new therapist!

Blue - Skype works fairly well if you need to do business conversations, or if you are catching up with friends and family far away. I feel that the emotions cannot really be brought into a Skype conversation however.
I'd try a Skype T session and I think you'll realise soon enough if it gives you what you need.
I'm in South Africa, and our internet speeds are still a lot slower than USA, yet I manage to get the images coming through pretty much real time.
Skype is definitely a great product, but it'll never beat a face to face conversation

The state of Nevada uses closed circuit TV for their pdoc appts. Some people like it and some don't. It saves the state a lot of money.

I use it to talk to my friends all over the world. I like it. Skype is great.
