Hi. I just discovered this site.

I was diagnosed with BiPolar 2 last year. I was on meds until my insurance ran out. I now have new but have not seen a dr yet.

Anyway, I have been cycling downward--not wanting to go to work, not cleaning the house (it's a disaster), and generally not wanting to do anything at all.

So I decided to come here and read a bit and maybe say hello to people with the same problem, since my family doesn't seem to think I have a problem and my employers do not know.

By the way, on that last subject, should I tell them? I did spend almost half year on leave from my last job due to hospilizations, therapy sessions, and other reasons.

Thanks.

hi, welcome to PC and welcome to the bipolarian forum. please see a doc as soon as you can. the meds will stabilize you and help you get going. i know the drill about not cleaning, etc. i've been there.

i wouldn't tell the employer. not unless i had to. that's just my take on it.....xoxoxo pat

Hi Karen,

I agree with the others, see a doc and get on meds ASAP!! And I would only tell those people who you really know and trust. My opinion is that work just needs to know that you have a doctor's appointment or a sick day.

Welcome Hi. Newbie here

Hi Karen. you came to the right place. we have been through a lot like yourself and share our experiences in the hopes of helping you. have you considered a community mental health clinic, that charges on a sliding scale. contact MHMR in Texas to find out. you really should see a pdoc soon. I know the low feeling of bipolar and it is no fun. you owe it to yourself to be your own advocate and, with our help, begin to recover from something that CAN be treated. I wish you the best.

hi Karen. Welcome!

I agree about not telling your employer. Unfortunatly there is still a lot of stigma associated with this condition.

I am bipolar 1 and currently not taking meds full time, but its not something I suggest. I would see a doctor soon. A lot of people respond very well to meds.

Hi Karen

I too am new this forum, and it has been great just reading what others have to say and if you need to vent you can and someone is alway there to listen.

I have contacted MHMR in Texas and I see them on Friday of this week. I am out of work and no medical insurance and need to be back on Meds they do work on a sliding scale so I will let you know how it goes and how it works if you want.

Hi Karen, I am also new here and have found it a relief to just have other people to talk to who can relate. I have been bipolar since I was a teen and am now 32. Have been on meds only since I was about 27 (in denial). Please write if you need someone to talk to.
