I see my pdoc tomorrow for my monthly visit. My issues are that I am tired alot and I have NO motivation. I feel like I am such a lazy person. I've addressed this with her the past 3 or 4 visits. Also, that I am more down, than happy. Never happy actually. Anyway, she suggests I exercise. I know that may help, but it's also kind of hard when you lack motivation and have no desire for anything. She explains to me that if I had a job, I would force myself to go to work. If I had a baby that was crying, would I let it cry?
Another issue is lack of sex drive. I have no drive AT ALL. Can't she help me in anyway?
I tell her the same things every month, and she replies with the same answers each time.
I asked her for Aderrall, but she said no. I asked to bump up Welbutrin, she said I take the highest dose (300mg).
Last month she increased my Abilify from 15mg to 20mg. I don't even know why.

These are the meds I take.
Prozac 40mg
Wellbutrin 300mg
Lamictal 300mg
Abilify 20mg
Topamax 125mg

I would like to try going off Prozac, maybe that would help with the sex drive? But I don't think the pdoc will go with it , because I am depressed so often.
What do you think?
Please, I would appreciate some replies if you can.

Oh, and is there a "magic" pill that will help energize me. From what I can tell, I am healthy. Never had a bad thyroid test and blood levels are always fine.

Hi Coco, 300 mg is the highest dose of wellbutrin (that was the max I was on). I know depression sucks the life out of a person, but in some ways I agree with what your p-doc is saying. When I'm depressed I don't want to do anything, but I just continue on with my daily routine, going to the gym, work, the stables until the cloud lifts. It is an awful feeling to not feel joy in things you normally would enjoy, but not doing it seems to make me worse.

Some people with bipolar can't handle SSRI anti-d's (Prozac is a SSRI anti-d).

Lack of sex drive is a concern and it definitely could be a side effect of your meds. They can affect people in different ways and I'm not sure if that is listed as a side effect for Prozac.

If you feel your p-doc isn't listening to you let her know. It's important for me to feel that any doctor I see (especially my p-doc) listens to my concerns. Writing my concerns down and taking them with me helps me remember what I want to talk to my p-doc about. Hope that helps.

I take Strattera (for ADHD) in addition to my bipolar cocktail of meds (mood stabilizer, antipsychotic, etc). It really helps a lot with keeping me motivated and "perky." I'm like a slug when I don't take it. My pdoc doesn't hesitate to prescribe it because it is not a stimulant. He won't give me any stimulants at all, but the Strattera has always worked just fine anyway. It also improves my mood since it has some sort of antidepressant qualities.

Don't have any advice on improving the sex drive. Lamictal always killed mine. I didn't get it back until I switched off that. Good luck with that. Sounds like your pdoc isn't really listening to you or talking to you. Maybe it's time to try a different pdoc. Sometimes the key to finding the right med cocktail is finding the right pdoc.

Thank you. I am actually trying a new pdoc at the end of the month, hopefully he'll understand a little better.
