I need to know if anyone else has had a hard time coming off of lamictal or if this might be something else.

I have been coming off of my lamictal since last thursday and I feel really weird. On friday night I was in my car driving and had to pull my car over because I couldn't feel myself. I knew I was there but the feeling I had was so strange. Things started closing in and I had to pull over. I called my friends and they called the paramedics. When they got there my blood pressure was 150/96. It almost felt like I had a seizure but I'm not sure. Maybe just a panic attack. When I was talking to my friend she said I dropped the phone and made weird moaning sounds. I have never felt like I have since being on lamictal and now getting off of it it's even more weird. I'm a little scared. Plus I was wondering if anyone ever got bad acne from being on lamictal?

I could really use some support
since the person that's supposed to be there for me says "you don't have cancer", not cool!

thank you

I was on Lamictal for a very short time and a very low dose, but when I was taken off it, I had terrible headaches for about a week. I assume you are working with a p-doc to come off the med. It might be a good idea for you to call your p-doc for advice. Maybe you are coming off it too fast.
Thanks for this!

i was on 150 mg, today i'm feeling a little better and able to go back to work. I'm having to push myself a little, i'm still pretty tired and a little out of it but it's good for me. Thank you for your support, it means a great deal to me. It was very scary but now just to know if anyone has had a similar experience.

I am glad to hear you are feeling better. I was 10mins late for my psych appt today & am being forced to go off my meds for a month because I had to reschedule to next month & I can not have more meds till I see her. I am concerned about the withdrawals.

ok, so do you have a regular doc. When this happens to me I call them and ask for refills from them. I can at least get a month after explaining the situation. Good luck dear and I'm not sure how many times I've been in your shoes.

My doc is constantly warning me not to skip lamactil due to risk of seizures...
kd, hope you feel better soon.
Chompers, that sucks majorly, hope you can get meds elsewhere - withdrawal is not a good thing. They suck

Wow- I've never been warned about these issues around Lamictin?Lamictal!! I was warned about upping the dosage slowly, but that's all.

And in my state right now, where I feel I've had enough of my meds not working, I really considered stopping my Lamictin cold-turkey. I know it's never the right decision, but when you've had enough, you don't think straight.

I have recently felt a bit spaced out (Could well be the Klonopin and sleeping tabs ) but I got lost twice yesterday - on my way to T and back to work as well.

I'm sorry you went through such a frightening experience - thanks for sharing and forewarning us!
