I know I suffer from depression, and I have been abused all my life,
I dont know a lot of the times what to exspect from be bahavorer but resently I have noticed that I am having very big mood jumps. I have been happy or hyper and my friends have asked me "are you high?" many times. I dont understand this because they know that I am not that type of person but they still ask me. I have had this all my life but resently it has been happening in one day. In the morning I will be "hyper" then I will be angry for no reason but just be mad at every thing it seems. Then I will be depressed and have the normail depressed thoughts. This has been happening all my life but resently the emotions have all happened in one day making it hard to seem "normal" to my friends. I am not sure what to do? Could I be bipolar? I like being "hyper" but I cant controle it and try to get my self to be as much as I can but it doesnt help. Sometimes I am hyper and then depressed and vise versa and a mix of emotions. I dont know what is normal and me being "weird" Just wondering... Thanks

Hi Jenny
Nice to meet you!

I don't know if it is BPD, but I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
I experience what you are describing too. I am often either really really up... or really really down....
or really really angry. There is no medium. No stability.

Hi Lillyleaf; bipolar can share symptoms with other mental illnesses, so I would suggest speaking to a pdoc about it. I would also suggest tracking your mood to see if there is a pattern to it i.e. is it being triggered by stress, what you ate or drank, who you are spending time with etc. I found a great one online at http://www.medhelp.org/land/mood-tracker

It could be, you can take some of the quizzes and see if you have other symptoms that go along with it. The best way to find out is: don't be afraid, make an appointment with a psychiatrist and be honest with her/him. It will make you feel better to find out, for sure, if you are or not.

Lillyleaf, BPD is borderline personality disorder while we refer to bipolar disorder as BP. However, what you describe could be either one, or nothing. You need to see a psychiatrist if your life is being impaired by your symptoms.

Yes, you need a psychiatrist to evaluate you, and preferably go to you app armed with a mood chart.
Please note that there is quite a difference between BPD and BP, as Anne has indicated above. BP responds to meds usually, while BPD is more of a therapy treated issue.
But the symptoms are very similar
