So in 2007 I had thyroid cancer and they removed my thyroid. I now live off of synthetic thyroid. For the most part it is always the same. Well during the past month my hair has been falling out and as of right now I have about of the hair I had a month ago, ugh. Since the hair started to fall out I thought there may be a thyroid issue so I had my TSH checked this past week and found out that I have zero detectable thyroid in my body. I have been WAY too suppressed. So the Dr. is changing my thyroid meds. Along with that I am vitamin D and C deficient. She said that these three issues are causing me to be very unstable and causing muscle and bone issues. So I am on super high doses of both D and C for the next 2 months. My D is at 23 and my C is at 8.1 This what was causing me to fall - I now fallen 5 times in the last month and they have been some pretty nasty falls.

So any way - it's nice to find out why I have been falling and I am glad it is not all the BP meds I am on and it is treatable. AND I will have my hair back in a few months. At least I have thick hair. They also tested me to see if the cancer is back I won't know the results of the tumor marker until next week - that is always a nail biter. So far I have been cancer free since 07.

I am glad you found out what was causing it. I hate the not knowing. I was having problems with being dizzy all the time and my doctor ran every medical test known to man! We finally found it was the Geodon! I stopped taking it because it wasn't working and about 2 weeks after I tirated myself off of it, I stopped getting dizzy. I haven't been dizzy since! What a relief it was to finally find out the cause.

I hope things straighten out soon and you are back on your feet again without falling!

I know how it feels to have your hair falling out. Maybe mine is falling out for thyroid reasons and not because of my Depakote that I am on. Who knows . Thanks for the post though. I hope you are still cancer free

LaraLynn; I'm glad your doctor discovered your vitamin d and c were low and I hope you start feeling better soon. Vitamin c and d dificiency has been linked with depression.

THANK YOU all for posting! I can't wait to feel less tired once the D and C kick in. I should have the results back from the tumor marker Monday and will post then. It usually takes a while for the thyroid hormones to make you start to feel better, but at least we are on an upswing there . I also think this has been contributing to my depression that came out of no where. YEAH, happy for a solution.
