So I have decided that I have to redo my living room kitchen and bedroom. For the past 6 years I have collected things. I have things every where. I have a very comfortable house and I have antiques everywhere and antique things everywhere. I hate all of it right now. Everywhere I look all I see is old things. Yes I bought all of it old on purpose and it all really looks great. I can show you pictures I have a really pretty house and it looks like a magazine, but I hate it all - I feel so cluttered and old. So for Christmas I told my mother is law I had to change it all. So she bought my new curtains that are black and white that do not match anything so that means everything has to change. So today I took everything out of my living room all my antique dolls and other things and boxed them up. And the strange thing is that I went all over texas looking for these dolls and yet I am sooo happy that they are gone. I put up these new black and white shiny objects and picture frames and black and white striped pillows and I feel so refreshed and new. I thought I would feel sad and guilty. I think this black and white room will really help me focus. I dunno, but I LOVE not having the clutter - I had stuff EVERYWHERE, I and ADD. I can't WAIT to attack my kitchen if you saw how much antique kitchen CRAP I have it there you would probably think I was insane(well you probably already think that for other reason )....I am sure I could become a hoarder if I didn't have 4 kids, a husband, 3 doggies and a ferret that had to live here too. I just never knew I was so black and white about things .

Thanks for reading my latest drama...love you all!

I feel really stressed by clutter, so I can understand how simplicity can make you feel nice and calm. Really glad you like your new room. Maybe you can put some of your old pieces on ebay (keeping the special ones of course ) to fund the next rooms makeover!!!!!

I'm glad you're enjoying cleaning out clutter. I used to be a knick-nack collector until I realized I hate dusting...so I boxed them all up. I felt so much better having less stuff around. I also made it a point to leave my bedroom as minimalist as possible (apparently clutter interferes with your sleep). So when I lived by myself and had control over everything my bedroom contained my bed and a dresser (with nothing on top of it) and 4 serene nature pictures on the wall. That was it. It was awesome. So glad you're enjoying the calm.

Yippee, LaraLynn!!! I LOOOOVE not having clutter too. Feels so serene without it. There's a burden to too much stuff, whether nice or junk. Hehe, I love the way you put that at the end about being so black and white about things. Like one end to the other, eh? Sounds familiar. When hypo, I tend to go <cough> a bit overboard, then later attack it with a vengence, wanting to just throw it all out by the curb with a big FREE sign! (Haha, it's sheer willpower not to literally throw... ) "Refreshed and new". Exactly. Love you too!
