Did it start with one dot, or did it all just erupt at once? I woke up this morning with one dark red/purple pin point dot under my thumb, on the palm side, which is slightly raised, but not itchy. I haven't seen any other dots.

I would imagine it would look something like the picture below. I did a search on lamictal rash and this is what came up:

Anyone ever get the Lamictal rash?

Most common areas of the rash are chest and neck and legs. It could occur anywhere though.

I have been searching also, and came up with similar photos.

I guess I just have to watch out for it and hope for the best.

That doesn't look nice! Hoping you don't get the rash BNL! I think it's a really good drug if you can tolerate it

It is hard to not be paranoid when starting a new medication. I thought I had the lamictal rash and freaked out. Then I realized I started using a new laundry detergent (All free and clear). I ran out and bought my usual Tide before calling pdoc and sure enough, it was the detergent. It was just funny that it happened at the same time I started the lamictal lol
I now take 200mg every morning and have not had any problems. If you started at a low dose like I did then the chances of you developing the rash is less likely.

I had it and it looked like the picture. I had it on my legs the most, then chest and neck. No where else. It was little red bumps. They were not connected at first, but as I got more they connected.

Hard to say, I am not a doctor. But I would imagine that he/she would take you off the medication right away and give you something to clear the rash up. Once the lamictal is out of your system the rash should go away with no problems. There is one potential fatal rash you can develop, Stevens- Johnsons Syndrome, but that is rare. Important thing is if you are taking lamictal and develop a rash at anytime call your pdoc right away. Even if you have been on the medication for a long time, the rash can develop at ANY time that you are taking the medication. It is rare to develop the rash after the first few weeks of taking the mediation, but it can still happen. So, if you develop a rash alwasy check with your pdoc, it could be unrelated but then again it could not be. Always err on the side of caution.

My rash started out looking like I broke out with a whole bunch of pimples. It happened IMMEDIATELY after I upped my dose. I was very red and inflammed. I bit it in the nub as soon as that happened so it never got any further then the pimply stage. Best of luck I hope you don't have the rash.

If you are itching then keep an eye out for redness (that isn't caused by scratching) that is the beginning signs of a rash. It could be your mind playing tricks on you too That has happened to me

((((BNLsMOM))))

I hope that you will have your doc look at it. I did get the rash both times they have tried Lamital. It looked like the picture and I was taken off the med immediately. The best thing to do is to let your doc know.

Lamital is a good med and it was working for me then I got the rash. The first time it took a little while after I started the med so my doc took me off it. Then I tried it a few years later and the rash came up quickly. So I was taken off immediately.

I do hope that you will go to the doc as soon as possible. It could be something else but it is best to get it checked out to be sure. Sending you gentle hugs and loving thoughts. Always.

The rashiness is gone, but that black dot under my thumb is still there.

I have swollen lymph nodes for sure but I also have a cold. I will call my p-doc just to double check tomorrow.
Thanks for this!

Let us know what the pdoc has to say...I am sure it is just a regular seasonal cold. But best to be sure!

I have to wait until tomorrow. The snow storm we had has pretty much paralyzed the area. My cold is feeling better. I am less achy now, but the lymph nodes in my neck on the left side are still swollen. I will take a nap later. That did wonders for me yesterday.
