I don't want to influence any of you to do what I have done.
I just got fed up the other day and decided it was time for a med holiday, perhaps a permanent one. Gone is the abilify and we are down to 300mg of lithium as I taper it off. The effexor has to stay as that is an 8 week project. I've gained about 100 lbs on these things, my body is covered with psoriasis from the lithium, and the tremor embarasses me often. If I thought these things were working 100% I'd be more accostomed to taking them long term, but they are not. They work like 20% - for me - and the benefits just aren't overcoming the risks at this point. Now to tell the pdoc, whose reaction is most predictable. I suppose that is his job. |

Well done on that decision. I'm sure it wasn't an easy one. And congrats on being educated about it and tapering off.
Give it a go without meds, but don't hesitate to contact your pdoc as soon as you are battling. The meds you are on right now may have given you horrible side effects, but maybe there were other options to explore. Holding thumbs this works out for you!

Good luck, I really hope that it works for you. It is something I dream of doing but meds work 90% for me so I can't justify it.

i have done as u have done. Med free! But its summer so its a (somewhat) easier time for me. My meds never seem to level me out all that much anyway, but damn i cant get off this effexor i feel so dizzy and the brain zaps mean im just staying on them, which i guess means im not med free...... But im off the epilim which does controll my si when im in my darkest places... But for now its all good and good luck to you!
