I have heard that Lamictal withdrawal is pretty bad. I have been on it a month starting with 25mg every other day moving to 25mg every day. I have been on it a total of a month.

I am having an allergic reaction as fas as we know so I have to go off it cold turkey. I went off it once before but I had only been on it a week. I remember headaches, but that's about it.

I don't know for sure, BNLsMOM, as I've never gone off it, but at 25mg a day, it doesn't seem like it would be so bad, even at cold turkey. Of course you and your Pdoc would be making the cold turkey decision, but it sounds like it's already been made, so I'm assuming that they think it will be ok too. Also, at a guess, if you've already gone off that dosage level before, seems it would be no worse... pretty sure the dosage levels in your body would have already been pretty similar in the original week's time, so... don't imagine this would be different.

(I started with the same dosage schedule as you and am now on 400mg (split am/pm, as taking it all at once caused vision problems and dizziness, but splitting it am/pm works absolutely fine. Now if I had to go off fast from 400mg, yeah, I'd be worried. Not sure they'd even let me(!))

Sorry you seem to be having an allergic reaction to it. Keep us posted how it goes for you, ok?

I am hoping that all I have is a nasty virus, but we want to be safe. After my next appointment in early Feb., we will decide if we are going to rechallenge. I really hope I can tolerate it because my mood has improved and I have been doing well for a couple of weeks (not counting the physical symptoms).

One thing on my side is that my entire family has been sick in the last week or two.
One thing against me is that I had a similar reaction the last time I went on Lamictal.

That is why we just don't know.

So far, no withdrawal. My body aches and joint aches are much better, though I am still dealing with these cold symptoms and lymph nodes in my neck.

I am worried because I am now on an OK but unreliable dose of meds. I was starting to feel irritable yesterday and I am having a hard time with my relationship stuff.

Maybe getting in to see your doc sooner would be a good idea. It's hard to tell if you had a virus or side effects of the lamictal as they are so simular. But either way - better safe then sorry was a great approach. Take it easy on yourself right now. It's hard starting new drugs and finding the right ones for you, it just adds more stress to your daily life.

I just saw her last week and she wants to give it time to clear out of my system whether it is a virus or a reaction.

I'm battling a cold and bad cough for nearly a month now. I've been on the Lamictal for a few months.

Hope things continue to be OK for you!

TRIGGER

I woke up with a terrible headache, and I was in a panicky sweat and couldn't talk or move. I was trying to call my husband to come help me wake up so that I could move, but all that came out were little grunts and murmurs. It felt like hours. I was vaguely aware that my family were all leaving for school/work, and I was trapped in my bed about to die. I really felt like I was dying or that someone was going to kill me.

I must have fallen asleep again, because I woke up two hours later, still with my headache.

I have had panic attacks upon waking before, but never one like this. I am still shaken.

I wonder if it was the withdrawal from Lamictal...

I am having little bouts of anxiety today. It is really strange, like I am fighting to keep my thoughts together. They want to fly off in all directions, but I am training a new puppy and trying to maintain a schedule. I am having a hard time remembering when I need to take her out. The simple solution would be to write it down. I haven't been able to get to that. I keep getting interrupted by meals, naptime for my son, swim meet plans...birthday parties

Wait, what was I saying?
