I've been on Lamictal for the past 3 weeks and I think I'm gaining weight despite working out at least 3 times per week for 90 minutes and eating healthy most of the time. The literature says that weight gain is not associated with this drug typically but has anyone else had this experience?

I would check with your pdoc and talk to him/her about the side effect your having on lamictal. Maybe he will change the med and give you something without the weight gain side effect. good luck |

I'm on lamictal and when I started it, my pdoc did tell me to watch out for rapid weight gain. It could be a side effect of the drug although I'm not sure. Definitely ask your pdoc.

Hi jgoerzen6262. Are you on anything else other than lamictal? I haven't experienced weight gain on lamictal, but not everyone experiences the same side effects.

Hi jgoerzen6262 and welcome to the forums!
![]() I've been on Lamictal about a year and a half and haven't had any weight gain associated with it. (I have gained a bit, but a change to a more sedentary lifestyle and diet completely account for it. I was on it for months before the other factors kicked in, and had no weight issues.) |
