I am currently taking regular Seroquel 150 mg and have been taking Lamictal 150 mg. Six months ago my pdoc increased dosage of Lamictal after I complained of worsening depression. I have been battling an issue of recurring bronchitis for years but it has gotten really bad since I have been taking Seroquel and Lamictal (may be coincidental). Over the years I have had pneumonia three times causing scarring of lungs and frequent bronchial infections causing permanent damage to bronchioles (bronchiectasis). I recently got a rx for lamictal and noticed a possible side effect was frequent infections. I have been on antibiotics nine times in the last year. I now have all of these gastrointestinal infections partly due to antibiotic use. I am wondering if my bronchial infections could be exacerbated by the fact I am taking lamictal? I have been decreasing my lamictal dosage 50% every 5 days now only taking 35 mg daily. I am seeing my pdoc on Monday and am going to ask her to change me off to see if there is any improvement. My niece who is also bipolar takes seroquel and wellbutrin. I have low libido and weight gain which I am wondering if wellbutrin will help. I have been trying to research this myself but as the time is coming up for me to see pdoc on Monday just wondering if any of you have insite into this. Thank you for your time.

Wellbutrin works well for low libido in my experience... I am on Seroquel XR and Wellbutrin and was doing well untill some events in my life destabilized me again. It is worth asking your pdoc what they think.

Something that would help my libido would be great. I am having so much other negatives a positive would be wonderful. Thanks for your input.

If your having alot of side effects i would talk to your doctor about switching some things up, the meds are supposed to help...not render you unable to function because of the side effects.

I'm on Lamictin and Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin is great for Libido and energy too.
I'm a bit sick at the moment, and can't seem to shake a really bad cough. Wonder if it could be the Lamictin too? I'm on 100mg, and have been for about 6 months

My psychiatrist started me on Wellbutrin today since the Lamictal was not addressing the issue of depression, low energy. Lamictal may not be contributing to the pulmonary infections at all. Anyway it didn't seem to work well for me. We also looked at Seroquel. I am having some changes in my pancreas so that may be contributing to my problems. This all may be coincidental but it is worth trying a change to see if it helps. This situation with my lungs being damaged and the chronic infections have me concerned.

I've been on 150 of lamictal since June and it's been fine. I suppose that's not a very long time though... I actually have a nasty cough that I can't seem to shake either! (on and off again for more than a month). It got worse this weekend but I think that's because I went to a big party and had a bit too much fun and alcohol really depresses one's immune system. Anywayyysss I hope the wellbutrin works for you, sadface!

Thanks. Actually I have to say I really had a good week. I had energy and was upbeat. I don't know if Lamictal added to my lung situation. Guess time will tell.

Sorry to hear about your cough. My cough started every afternoon and would go away early evening. Now it stays unless I am on antibiotics. I am hoping getting my immune system in good shape will help. My pdoc started me on 75 mg of Wellbutrin taken first thing in the morning. She said start taking another dose in a week. She said never take it later than 2:00PM. I am concerned about it keeping me up too because I have to be very careful about sleep. I was adddicted to Ambien for years and thank God finally got off of it.

Thanks for info. I am taking regular Seroquel 150 mg and now the Wellbutrin. I really do feel better. My cough is gone but I am on antibiotics so time will tell after I am off the antibiotics.

I def wouldn't take Wellbutrin in the afternoon or evening - as it is, I battle to fall asleep if I take it at 7AM

I am on 75 mg of Wellbutrin. My pdoc wants me to increase it to 150 but I feel really good and I don't want to risk not being able to sleep. I have so much more energy and my outlook is so much better. Another thing I have noticed is I am not as irritable as before so I'm liking the change!

Wondering how much you take? My pdoc rx 75 mg to take first thing in the morning. She then told me to start taking a second 75 mg around 2 PM. I feel good on the 75 mg so I am going to stick with that. I have already noticed to I have more trouble falling asleep.

Well - I'm a BAD example. I have an idiot pDoc making me take 75mg (That's half a 150mg XL tablet!!!). So my body has no idea what's hitting it.
Hoping my next pdoc will let me take a whole 150mg XL.

For me Wellbutrin XL is a first thing in the morning drug. If I take it too late in the day it will keep me from falling asleep. I am taking between 150 mg - 300 mg (up the dose if I am feeling extra unmotivated). Seroquel I take at night, I was on 200 mg immediate release for 2 years, but I was starting to feel it wear off by the end of the day, so we moved to 300 mg of the extended release.

The 300 mg Seroquel XR is less sedating than the 200 IR, but is much longer acting without the feeling of being dropped on my head by the end of the day.

Are you taking Wellbutrin XL or standard Wellbutrin, if it is XL then I would take it only once in the morning. If it is not the XL then due to the immediate release nature it is not uncommon to take upto 3 times in the day (separated by about 6hr) as it has a rather short half life.

If I am having trouble sleeping then I add something depending on why. If I am full of energy, melatonin... If it is racing thoughts and anxiety xanax. If that does not work I will take a lunesta.

Benzo's help slow the racing thoughts - I take Klonopin to chill out a bit

I'll have to check out Klonopin. I sometimes have trouble with racing thoughts at night....right when I'm trying to go to sleep! It mostly happens when I am over involved with situations. I am on regular Wellbutrin which I am going to try to stay on this if possible. My adrenal gland is depressed in the morning so it is hard to get up. The Wellbutrin helps me get going. Thanks to every one for your posts.

Well I take Seroquel which causes carbohydrate cravings so I think my weight gain was caused by Seroquel rather than Lamictal. I have not noticed a decrease in cravings since I have been off. I have been doing some research about the immune system. I am walking, taking vitamins, drinking plenty of water, green tea, etc. I also stopped eatting sweets I have not had a lung infection since starting all of this. I am afraid to be very confident because I have not gone a month without antibiotics for over a year.
