We all talk about getting on the right meds and then we will be stable. But to me it seems like I have never found the right combination of meds. There never seems to be a “level” spot of normal moods for me. I see my pdoc at least once a month sometimes more. Is there ever really going to be a time where I find the right meds?
Any success stories out there? Or am I doomed to a life full of changing and tweaking meds in hopes of finding a mood that is normal?

I've had remissions. Makes it hard when I have a manic episode with psychosis like I did this last week.

BP is something I always have to be aware of and sometimes my meds need tweaking but I've been stable for about a year with only mild fluctuations which were easily managed with meds.... There is hope

I was diagnosed in 2007 and each year I get better at managing the illness. I have found a good combo of meds and have been on it since May 2010. I still have some mood changes, but it's nothing near what I was like before I was diagnosed. I think it's the nature of the illness and it also depends on outside factors. For me my job can be stressful and I work shift work, so that can trigger an episode.

I hope you find a combo of meds that works for you.

well, you cannot declare live a success until it's over.

But I live, I have ups and downs, yes... but I am no longer swayed with them. I learned ot separate my moods from my person and I am moderatelly comfortable in wide range of moods and they do not interrupt my living.

I've had one adjustment since I was diagnosed in July and things are controllable. Something I'm coming to realize since I started therapy is that the meds are good, but the more I work on changing my thoughts and behaviors, the better I feel. Hang in there.
