I just shaved my head....out of impulsiveness. I know that tomorrow I am going to regret it because that is what always happens, but right now I just HAD to do it. Just like I HAD to SI earlier. I get these feelings where I just have to do something at that point in time and the urge doesn't go away until I have done whatever the urge is.
IDK whats going on with me right now....other than having just come off Depakote completely about a week ago.
I hate this feeling....I hate it! GRRRRR!!!!

Oh, I'm sorry. In the past I've taken off all my hair as well. You probably will regret it in the morning, but I'm glad that you've not injured yourself. And you probably need to talk to a doc at some point, so they can help you ease off the depakote, or at least reduce the symptoms.

Well, he weened me off the depakote, but I have only been completely off of it for a week. I will call my doc because I don't like these feelings....I feel like I am going downhill fast.

If it wasn't for my husband, I would have been at a casino getting drunk and playing blackjack Saturday night and then jumping off a bridge because I thought it would be fun.

The good thing is that hair grows back. In the meantime, I say work it. Cool scarves, great hats, and when the fuzz starts to get longer, maybe some wacky colors. You might as well enjoy your impulse, right?
Thanks for this!

I've had that impulse to shave my head a few times. The older I get and the more thinning I notice the more often the urge comes up. I am glad that my pdoc got me on a cocktail that have really knocked down my impulsiveness because I used to get in a lot of trouble from my urges. I hope you can get this worked out quickly with your pdoc.

Soooo hear you on the hair thing! 1 am major hack job with dollar store scissors, anyone? Oh yeah. (Hehe, though it did force me the very next day to go actually get it done by someone who could see what they were doing(!)) One part was saying, "WTH are you thinking?! You know nothing about haircutting!" The other part (that won) said, "youtube a couple of videos, how hard could it be?!" Um, turns out I only have two hands and couldn't even see what I was doing. So... um.. yeah.

See, I'd gotten this idea from a Portugese website. Suddenly decided I couldn't wait ONE MORE MINUTE! Even when I did go into the stylist, she said... "um, this is like... 3 haircuts combined!" I said, "Go for it. I'm not afraid." (She was, lol!)

BNLsMOM is right though -- work it! And it does grow back...

As far the Depakote, the plan to wean you off it was for??? Are you going to be trying something different? Hope whatever the plan is that you can get it sorted as soon as may be. Sending good thoughts your way.

The plan to ween was so that I can eventually get pregnant. I have to ween off of two other meds. In two weeks we are going to start weening off another med and I am nervous about it, but I am willing to do anything to get prego.
I would like to try something different and I think I am going to talk to the doc about something safer for when I get pregnant.

Thanks for the good thoughts and thanks to everyone else, too.

I'm having a hard time feeling guilty this morning for chopping off my hair and for doing the SI. The impulsiveness just sucks!

I've done that too to my hair in impulsiveness. As mentioned above, it does grow back, there are cool accessories to wear if you don't like it, and you might actually find you like. It can be rather chic. You save time getting ready and less money on shamp/cond and hair styling products.

It is not easy weaning off the meds, even for a such an important reason, please keep in contact with your docs so you stay safe. There may be other options to help you in this transition and once you're off. I wish you well during this time and hope for the best in your your future plans. Hang in there and good luck!!!

I've shaved my head a few times too, quite impulsively. Tattoos and SI have been major impulsive moves for me as well. I don't know if this will help, sometimes it helps me to get some eyeliner and draw on myself. When I'm really physically agitated and have SI thoughts grabbing ice cubes and squeezing them helps.

Thanks....I didn't think about ice cubes. I will take that advice.
Eyeliner? Hmm....it really works? I will try it. Thank you.

Thank you. I am going to try to call my doc I think because I don't know if I can deal with this on my own right now without any meds.
