Hi everyone. I am near the end of vacation. We have one more day in Disney World. Things are good and I have been having a great time. my symptoms have not interfered with this vacation and I am very grateful for that.
I have a question about sun exposure. I slather myself with sunscreen and reapply throughout the day (30+). I can't stand to have long sleeves in the heat, so I have been wearing T shirts, and covering my head with a hat. My arms have been covered with what looks like tiny blisters and bumps. I get it on my arms, hands and neck/chest. I don't get it on my face or my legs. It is really itchy and I think it is just heat rash, but I have never had it before. Has anyone had this while on meds? I think it may be med related. I take Depakote, Seroquel, Prozac, and Prilosec. Thanks for any thoughts, experiences. |

Allergy to the sunscreen itself? I can't go in the sun w/o sunscreen because I'm on lithium and it makes me feel horrible of I do.
Happy Disney World! Ride Pirates of the Carribean for me?? Or if at EPCOT, Spaceship Earth. |

I tried a few different sunscreens, but I have used them all before without this problem.
Pirates, done. Spaceship Earth, done. We are going back to Epcot tomorrow to ride some favorites and go shopping in the countries. |

Ok? SE again? ;-). Norway? You know there's a hidden Mickey in the murel where you load the ride?

We did the ride in Norway, but I didn't know there was a hidden Mickey. The kids didn't like that ride much so we might skip it this time around. I think we will do SE again it was pretty cool. The best was the test track. We definitely want to do that one again.

Hi BNLsMom - I hope you're having fun!
It sounds like heat rash - I looked up all of your meds and none of them come up with photosensitivity from what I saw - i know with Seroquel you're supposed to be careful not to get overexerted so make sure you're drinking enough water. Enjoy the rest of your trip! |

The rash was killer today. There are even a few blisters now and it stings. It was the last day in the sun so hopefully it will heal soon and not turn into something nasty.
Moose, we went into a store today and there was a book about hidden mickeys and scavenger hunts that you can do all over the park to find them. I wish we had that on the first day. If and when we go back, I'll try to remember to get that book so we can play the games. We travel tomorrow back to Massachusetts where we will wait for summer weather. |

The hidden mickeys were so fun! But we just happened to see them. The one in Norway is in the big mural where you load the ride. There's a kid on one of the boats who has a "Mickey ears" hat.

I know that I had a problem with seroquel and heat, but that was heat exhaustion rather that sunburn and rash.

That's what I was thinking...
We're home now so I am guessing the rash will resolve since it is cold out and I will be wearing long sleeves again for a while. I still have the bumps, especially on the backs of my hands, but they no longer itch. |
