I have marijuana to be an acceptable substitute for prn anti-anxiety medications. Is this the case with anyone else? I'm talking to my doctor about getting a license, since I live in California. He thinks it's really interesting that it works so well for me. Are there any other BP stoners out there?

i don't use it now but i have found it helpful for anxiety in the past. I fully support full legalization and while thc is been linked to bringing out psychosis in people predisposed to schizophrenia, there are many other cannabinoids that have anti-psychotic and calming effects.

I don't find weed helpful with my anxiety. Xanax works better for me.

Marajana is a drug that can reduce anxiety. But it comes with it own side affects just as "pills" do. Marajana can actually cause whats called "rebound" anxiety. Not really considered withdrawl but the chemical THC that is naturally in Marajana stays in your system for several days and as it is matabilized by the body it causes anxiety like symptoms (increased heart rate and increased physical sensation) . So a joint smoked today will actually cause anxiety like symptoms in a few days. And thus the cycle continues as you smoke your next joint. Long term regular use of marajana has been found to increase symptoms of depression. So as with any drug....use with caution.

Smoking weed helped me get off all the other ant-anxiety meds I was taking, which are alot worse for your health by the way. I've been smoking for years every day and I'm fine. It has never caused anxiety for me.
