I started taking lithium 3 week ago and for the past week I've noticed that my body feels a little bit tremulous . I've also noted that my voice is sometime shaky and wavering...or my speech is mildly slurred. This stinks because I'm a singer, and I have to work overly hard to enunciate my speech now. Has anybody else had this? How did it go away?

I actually had to go off Lithium when they put my dose up at the hospital because my tremors got so bad I couldn't walk right or eat with a spoon because everything fell off. I went on Depakote instead and I feel occassionally shaky, but nothing like what Lithium did to me.

On lithium I cannot sing anymore, my pitch is too far off. I also have tremor. Hoping abilify can replace lithium for me!

I experienced tremors after I went on lithium. I'm not a singer so I'm not sure if it would affect that, but I also had slurred speech. My doctor put me on proranolol ER. He started off with a small dosage and increased it gradually to 120 MG and that solved the problems.

I used to have tremors with lithium, but I'm on a lower dose now and haven't had the same problem.

The only thing I got from it was 20 lb weight gain within a month! I took myself off of it, it does not work for me!

I was on lithium for a year. I didn't shake but I had other side effects that I didn't like including having to start thyroid medication. My doctor put me on Lemictal instead. My doctors have always had a very hard time finding medications that work for me. I would never give up the Lemictal.

I took propanol too when I was first put on lithium and that stopped the hand tremors. I was able to get off that med and didn't have hand tremors as long as I stayed hydrated. I drank a lot of water prior to being diagnosed and I drink even more now.
