Why is it that when we (bipolars) are having a bad mood or a little emotional, we get defined as unstable???

ALL people, have moodswings!!!!
I'm crazy agitated by this and am sick to death of being told to 'calm down' or 'do you need an ativan?'
DUH!! I need an ativan to deal with your ignorant *****!
Meh, feeling a bit angry right now, better watch out or I may go all goofey on y'all.

As you say we are allowed to have an off day!!

I know what you mean crzyladee. I don't so much get told I'm moody as much as I get those darn looks. Guess I question myself when I get that reaction. The good thing is only some of my close family knows about it. The reality of it is the only ones who really see the bipolar side of me is my husband and kids.

I feel I only show my bipolar side to my family too.... is that a random thing or is it common I wonder??!? People can see my "moodieness" but my "bipolarness" is behind the door

LOL Miss Laura. I think it is because we are around our family so much that they couldn't miss it. To the rest of the world I imagine we look like we are straight out in B**** mode.

I hate when people make jokes about being bipolar because the think they know what it is and think its funny. I hate that they almost always say it near you because they assume you'll find it funny since you're bipolar. Then if you get upset, they think its unfounded?

I'm tired of hearing about the weather being bipolar, or switching songs fast means your bipolar. Or being indecisive is being bipolar. Or that a pill is expected to make you instantly happy. T___T! "Hey, did you take your meds? You're in a bad mood. :<"

...
Thanks for this!

I chose not to tell my work about my BP, so when I get angry or loud, they just assume it's Jackie going crazy. So, I've never been told I'm unstable.
My close friends that know I'm BP, know me well enough to treat me the way I need to when I'm having a bad day.

I agree with you, crzyladee. Why is it we are not allowed to have a normal "crabby day" without everyone jumping to maintain balance. I think balance is having those off days along with the good days. We would all be walking around like zombies otherwise! I know personally when I'm "going over board" and other days I just feel like being a B****. Does that define who I am? Not a chance in H***!

ha, for me if i'm in a good mood...or in a bad mood, or if i get mad...the first question out of my family's mouth is "Did you take your meds"???????

Apparently i'm not allowed to have any kind of emotions at all...

Yeah! I hate it when i'm moody or feeling out of sorts...or getting a little loud and i'm told to calm down or keep my voice down..That makes me worse...Bipoler is in my family ...I get mine from my Dad ..And my sister's daugther gets it from her Dad...Yet they just dont get it..My older sister told me after i found out i had bipoler and anxiety ...She said i dont get it ..You were not like this before...OMG!!! Are you freakin kidding me..And they wonder why i get angry and i'm moody ...I told her i dont think or function like you do...I never know who or what will send me into a bad mood...I get PISSED off at those who dont educate themselves..Excuse me if i seem a little moody and oh goodness you think i'm rude and up tight and take everything soooooo SERIOUS...I didnt choose to be like this...God made me ..So i just take one day at a time.. As i say to family and friends ...Try being ME for a Day!!!
