Before I get started, I want to say that I am new to this site, and I am a little learrrrrrrry about on-line support groups. The last time I tried one, I had a very BAD experiance, so please be gentle.

I am curious about something I do when I am in the depths of crisis. I tend to curl up in a ball on the floor. The last time I crashed, all I coud do is huddle in the middle of my T's office and sob. Even when he offered me a chair, I couldn't sit there. This has happened several times in the past, but never as badly as the last time I crashed. It is like I have a wall between the chair and me, and no matter how badly I want to just sit in the chair, I can't do it. The floor is more comforting to me at those moments. REALLY i don't have a fear of chairs, it is just when I am in total melt down that I like the floor.

Does anybody else have this problem, or is this just another thing I need to discuss with my T.

Thanks
Bren

I do this and always have. When I am having major problems, I either sit or lie on the floor in weird places, like the kitchen. I find it comforting.

First off, to PC. This place has been so wonderful for me and I hope you find it just as helpful to you.

Yeah, I sit on the floor at times. If I am feeling really small or really low I will sit on the floor. You are not the only one.

I've been known to sit on the floor as well, preferably under a table. It just feels safer sometimes.

Welcome nerb! Hope you find this site supportive, I've found there to be a very helpful and understanding bunch here.

As for the floor and curling up? Most definitely. You're not alone on that. There are times when I can't/won't and will be practically crawling out of my skin with the need to do so. An especially 'fun' combo is desperately wanting to be on the floor, but being afraid of being on the floor. (That one moves into the phobic realm...very frustrating.)

(P.S. I love Eeyore too. Ever since I was little, my two favorites by a mile were Eeyore and Tigger. Now knowing I've got BP, it all makes perfect sense, lol! )

I didn't like the first online support group I tried but I find PC very helpful and supportive

And I do the same regarding the floor! Sometimes I will even take out my sleeping bag and sleep on the floor. I think it's more normal than it sounds. Space is very much connected to greater issues that affect how we feel I think...
As long as it doesn't get in the way I wouldn't worry

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, and the encouraging words. Thanks for answering my question about the floor....everbody else in my life seems to think it is weird that I do this, but then again they seem to think I am weird anyway
