I am always extemely thankful for all I have. There are sooooo many people who have it worse than me and I really do know this. The thing is sometimes it's so much harder to deal with things than others. Blowing things off and trying to look on the bright side is one of my of my greatest strengths. So why I'm having such a hard time is beyond me. I have worked in an office here for a little over 3 years and this is the 4th birthday I have spent here. Whenever my co-workers have a birthday, they bring in cake, a card, or both, or all go out to eat together, and the boss always brings them something. Well, my co-workers have never gotten a card or cake for me, and this is the 2nd year my boss hasn't even acknowledged my birthday at all. This is just one of the many ways I feel like an outsider. Also since I have worked here, I have gained over 100 pounds. It seems this may not be the best place for me but it is a pretty decent job. I have applied at so many of the other offices here, but nothing seems to be working out for me. Just feeling a little overwhelmed right now and need a little encouragement

If coworkers and your boss are going to do that on birthdays, it needs to be done for everyone. That is plain not nice. But don't take it personally. It's their problem.
Next birthday, bring in a giant cake for yourself and take a long lunch. That should make a nice point.

That is not pleasant, but if the ups of your current job are more than the downs you shouldn't lose it.
