So 10 days of taking 300mg of Trileptal at night with no side effects went by.
I added another 300mg dose in the morning 2 days ago and holy smokes, I feel like i'm drunk off my ***** all day!! Anyone take this stuff? What has your experience been with dosing?? Do you take this in two doses a day, a.m. and p.m. or one big dose in the p.m. only?? Is one big dose in the p.m. sufficient to keep a high enough level of this stuff in my blood all day??

I was prescribed trileptal to help me sleep. I slept somewhat better with it but about a half hour after I took it I felt chest pressure which was disconcerting so my doctor discontinued it.
My son took it and had no side effects that we noticed but it did not help his symptoms so his doctor also discontinued it.

I have been on trileptal for the past couple of months. I started off at 600mg a day in even doses (300 am 300 pm). However my psychiatrist told me that no one really reaches the true effects of it until they are at 1200 mg a day. I now take 600 in the am and 600 at night. It has greatly helped my rapid cycling, however, it has also taken any and all energy that I ever had away. The only main side effects that I have had with this is the extreme fatigue and some shakiness each time my dosage is increased. However, I was also on Lexapro for awhile, and that greatly improved my energy level. Only downside to lexapro is that it is expensive.
Hope this helps.
