I was approved to get SSD in Jan. started getting Mo. checks in March. Got a small payout from SSI. Get medicare in Oct. all is good right? Well I was approved for backpay from Oct. of 09. The scary part for me is that I haven't seen any of that money yet. Should have got it 3 mo. ago. With the economy the way it is I am a little concerned to say the least. i have also read some horror stories online of people waiting for very long periods of time. (years)! Anyone else in this boat? Or has been? appreciate any thoughts on the matter.

Don't get me wrong...I am greatful I know there a lot of people out there who have been waiting for approval. I had gotten SSD for a few mo. back in 1984 so I have had an open case all this time. Which made my determination much easier.

One question: did you have a lawyer work on your case? If so, they will take their payment out of your back pay and that's where things may be held up. If you didn't have a lawyer, I would give SS a call and find out what's going on. It may be just sitting on someone's desk waiting for a signature or something.

I didn't have a lawyer involved. I also keep in contact with my local office at least once a month if not twice. Sixty to ninety days is normal and it has been twice that long. ARGHHH....have a good weekend!
