Well up at 3 this morning . No rime or reason. I am really sore so I think my being awake has more to do with my fibromyaliga then it does my bipolar. I see the therapist today. Wish I didnt hae to would rather go swimming

I was up at 2am with only 4hrs of sleep. This is the 3rd day that I've only slept 4-5hrs of sleep. It probably has to do with my Bipolar.

I hope you get e descent night sleep soon so it doesnt sent you into mania or has that already happened?

I am hoping it doesn't send me into a manic episode because I just got out of the hospital on July 5th after being in there for 25 days plus on July 30th we are leaving for pennsylvania to see my dads aunt.

I don't know if this would help you, but in the late 90's when my parents were elderly and ill, I woke up in the middle of the night every night. I went to the computer and played solitaire until my eyes were so heavy they were ready to close. Then when I went back to sleep I slept until morning.
Another thing I used to do is buy or download hypnosis or relaxation mp3's and listen to them. The soothing voice and music used to lull me to sleep. I have them on my smart phone now. Or an mp3 with ocean sounds or peaceful music would work too. If you like the smell of lavendar it's also very good for relaxation. A hot bath with lavendar oil is a good bet. Don't use peppermint or any citrus - it wakes you up. I don't know what meds you're on, and you should always check with your pharmacist first but I found gravol or benedryl would also put me to sleep. Check with your pharmacist first always - I can't take either med anymore. Reading in bed didn't work for me - I'd still be reading when the sun came up. But maybe if you read something really boring it might help. Drinking warm milk helped - I don't like the taste so I always added some vanilla extract. I spent most of my life being an insomniac - I have lots of tricks. ![]()

If I can't sleep for days in a row, it's time to call the doctor. I stay up most of the night on occasion without flipping. I think it has to do with how stable I am on my meds.

I called my pdoc who is also my therapist and I was able to get into her today instead of waiting till tomorrow because I feel manic and i am probably am. It is effecting my OCD and I want to do a lot of things but I can't figure out what to do first.

I talked with my doctor, and he said if I'm anti meds, I could try Melatonin to help with my sleep. I have Bi-Polar 1. Wow, it only took 2 nights, but the Melatonin really relaxes me and allows me to sleep all thru the night. Before I was taking Tylenol PM 1000mg but got worried about all that Acetomophen building up. Anyways, I take 5mg of Melatonin per night 30 min before bed. I used to only sleep 1-2hrs a night.. Now I'm out for 5-6 solid.

Melatonin is really good. It resets your body clock as well. If you have any type of SAD, use it in the summer but not in the winter.
