Well I saw the pdoc and she agrees with T that I am bipolar, hasn't pinned on I or II but most likely II. I'm pretty sure I've never been full on manic, I think I'd remember. She is having me taper off the Topomax (thankfully) and starting me on Lamictal, which will hopefully help with the depression and suicidal feelings. I'm a little nervous about the rash thing but hopefully I won't have that problem it's going to take 8 days before I can start it and then 25mg for 2 weeks, 50 for 2 weeks and then 100 so I guess it will take awhile though before I might feel better. I think she is a good pdoc, she really took her time, took a history, and talked to me about my options. I hope this is going to help me, I'm so sick of feeling bad, seriously, I had to talk my T out of putting me inpatient until the new meds start working I can't afford to miss work.

Welcome to the club, so to speak. I just got my diagnosis last week, so I'm a newbie too. Waiting to see what my pdoc puts me on, really hoping he thinks lamictal is the best to start with.
Thanks for this!

Hi and welcome. Feel free to ask us any questions...
I found that Lamictin did take a while to start working, but it's to be expected as you taper the dose.
I take an AD with my moodstabiliser as well. I am BP II too. It's a bit easier to have a dx I find, as you have a little more direction to go in wrt find a med combo and therapy approach
Thanks for this!

Welc0me! I hope your new meds w0rk for you. Having a dx makes things a bit easier as you have clarity and can then act accordingly. XOXO

Welcome. I got relieved to get my diagnosis because it explained everything I was feeling and how I was acting.

The people here are awesome.

I was at another site for years but got so sick and tired of the members treating other members like garbage.

I found this place and it is so much different. Everyone here is so supportive and not judgmental.

Welcome ZBMOM.
I agree this is a very helpful forum and everyone is really supportive and there a lot of people on here.
I was diagnosed BP2 4 weeks ago roughly and put straight on Lactimal, i was put on seroquel at the beginning of the year as they thought i was BP1, Lactimal is so much nicer, i had a slight allergic reaction 2 weeks in, but everything was ok in the end and i'm still on it. I've been hypomanic ever since, but its the good type 80% of the time.

Keep us updated!

Zbmom,

I'm glad you app went well, and that she sounds Like she is a good pdoc. I'm happy for you to finally get a dx, it does make things easier. Hopefully this med change will straighten things out, it's hard to be patient. Wishing you the best.
Thanks for this!

I was diagnosed about 3 months ago and just got started with a pdoc about a month ago (I live in a very rural area and it was tough to find one);I'm glad you found one you liked- I got lucky on my first try as well...there are just so many horror stories and I guess we are the lucky ones.
I am on lamictal- she started me like you are starting, 25mg for 14 days etc. Tomorrow will start my next step up to 75mg. I was worried sick about the rash! But I have not broken out into anything and more than likely I would've by now from what I understand. I was manic for about 2 weeks and now I am headed down, down, down.....
Good luck to you...as you have read from previous posts, this is a good site. It's always nice to read that you are not alone.
Thanks for this!

Wow, I wish my hypomania was as nearly permanent and positive! I think it only ever lasts a week or two, never remember it for more than a month. Anyway, glad you have it under control.

Thanks guys I'm feeling kinda ugh today, not sure if my body isn't too happy with the topomax withdrawal had a headache and nausea all day. I hope tomorrow is better. Sometimes I wish I could just like go to sleep for a month and a half and wake up when the meds are all working and things are fixed.
