I just would like to see who has a clean apt., house or room, and whose is messy. Depending on your mood, I know about lack of motivation and also high motivation is what makes it what it is.

How clean or how messy is your place right now?

Mine is very dusty and the bathroom has to be done. I do one thing everyday and know it should be the bathroom, but I do not have the motivation to do it, so I just may dust the floors today. It's so much easier to do and I am taking the lazy way out.

Hey SunAngel,

Lol!! At the moment my room is clean, maybe a bit of a dust and hoover is needed but free from clutter. But will ultimately change when my mood changes.
Thanks for this!

I am ocd so I am always cleaning. People call me a neat freak. I think that they are wrong. I am a germ freak and hate it when things are out of place. I like things clean, neat and tidy.

my house is in a constant state of messiness. I just cannot keep up with it. I did clean the kitchen the other day which was an accomplishment. I also have a four year old who makes messes as fast as we clean them

My house sometimes gets very messy, but this last couple of weeks I've been Mrs Neat... Every room downstairs has been cleaned, my son's room is surprisingly tidy for a boy's room... all I have to do now is tidy my room. I'm particularly pleased with the bathroom at the moment. This time a fortnight ago the house was a mess, now I could invite anyone in and not be ashamed. (So long as they avoid my room that is...) I'm going to get my bedroom tidied over the weekend, and then I'm going to stick to a rota and keep on top of things, since life is a lot less depressing when your home doesn't stink. I do think that if it weren't for the mood stabiliser I'd be going off on a manic binge though... Still, mini manias are great for getting your house clean.

I use to feel bad about not doing the bathroom either but then my T pointed out that no one likes to clean bathrooms! If you can live with it, it's your mess/dirt and you'll probably clean it when you "have" to (i.e., you're having guests or get disgusted with it yourself?).

I have my second bedroom that bothers me these days; I got the downstairs pretty orderly, neat and vacuum more often than I use to but the upstairs, I pretty much only change the bed, do my laundry, and occasionally clean the bathroom up there when it really gets "bad". But the second bedroom, we don't use as a bedroom because the cats' litter boxes are in the closet there so no way we can put a guest in there (so I recently got a sleep sofa for my living room, downstairs). It was an "office" but we no longer have our desk PC's, just our laptops which we use downstairs so it has become a junk room and I just never get around to going through things and throwing them out.

My apartment is maybe a 5 on a 1-10 scale at the moment. Between wrangling a toddler, being sick, and just everything this week I've let a lot of things go, but I wouldn't say it's dirty, just needs some maintenance cleaning.

I'm with zbmom. I like my place neat, but I am just overwhelmed with too much stuff. My house is neat, but really needs a vacuum and a bathroom clean, kitchen floor wash.

Then again, summer is coming to a close, I can clean in the winter, so off for a bike ride. LOL

Well currently my house is a perfect 10. For about 4 months I cleaned nothing it was not only messy but filthy aswell , luckily my sister came by and spent 5 hours cleaning my house. So maybe it's cheating , either way I sure wasn't going to do it I have no energy.

My house used to be atrocious before I was medicated. My bed was so cluttered with plates, clothes, and trash that I had to sleep on a tiny corner of it, but I never had the energy or drive to do it.

That changed that God when I was prescribed Lamictal. Now my whole house is clean and I finally slept on a clean bed for the first time in over a year.

My house cleaning goes along with my mania. Right now it is a complete disaster and I wouldn't let anyone in. I can't even get off the couch right now. I'll go a week or two of it being immaculate. Then the other two or three weeks it is a total disaster. I has gotten so bad sometimes I'd just sit in the middle of the floor and cry. My head spins cause I want it clean but I don't know where to start or better yet, HOW to start. My mom has actually drove over an hour to come down here to help me clean when I am totally stuck. Then after she leaves, I cry for hours over the guilt of having to have someone help me take care of my own mess. Although, after the self pity wears off, I feel a bit free and a lot lighter. I feel like I can actually think.

Just got rid of a bunch of stuff I don't use. I am always doing this about every couple months. It makes it a lot easier to dust and clean without the added junk. I have a small apartment and things pile up fast unless you keep a handle on it. Besides the cleaning and throwing out are good exercise as well. My apartment is fairly clean. Its dusty now and the cat gals create a major fur problem at times. They love to play and chase each other and wrestle and the fur literally flies!!...AND...There is always the kitty litter!!

House is clean. I wash and vacuum regularly. I just need to organize things and put them away, which I'm terrible at doing.

Clean for now..but as sunangel stated that can change. I cannot function if my house is dirty so I try to keep up on it. My clothes seem to get out of hand more than anything.

My area at my apartment is starting to get messy and I will have to clean and neaten it up again. My boyfriends place, when I'm staying there gets really messy. I'm inclined to make messes but never have the energy to clean them. At my apartment I have to clean because I have 2 other roommates who would get on my case about messes.

Last month I had a Crisis Team come over to see me after I was seen at the local Emergency Mental Health Facility. Needless to say I had to clean!! My roommate and I hadn't cleaned in months. When we finally got to it, it took us 6 hours!!! Top to bottom scrubbed floors on my hands and knees! (mind you, we have 9 cats that we reside with. So the house is pretty much theirs! LOL) Anyway, ever since that day, we have been cleaning the entire hose once a week, every Thursday. Also I sweep the floors daily. Litter pans have always gotten scooped twice daily. There was so much hair and dust it was unbelievable!! I have no idea how I lived that way. I feel so much better in a clean house and I am not embarrassed if anyone were to stop over. How long will it last? I have no idea.. I do love a clean house. The crisis team couldn't believe that we had 9 cats living the house. Guess we did a good job of cleaning!

Right now, it's clean and tidy. My BF's Dad is stopping by for a quick visit -- he'll probably barely even be in the apartment, lol. But if someone is coming in at all, I am utterly compelled regardless. Helps with the nervous energy too. I find a clean and orderly space to be calming.
Twistedsister, I can relate. OCD too (and everyone thinks I'm a neat freak too...my nickname is Monk ). Yup, I frequently even use Q-Tips and dental tools when cleaning... .When I get depressed, the OCD and depression battle it out, but the depression always wins...

Not clean, not clean at all...

Here's what happens: Most days I simply don't have the motivation and it overwhelms me so I ignore it. Sometimes when I have a spark of genius, possibly a bit of mania, I create all sorts of systems and schedules to get and keep organized. I never get around to the work because it is more fun to work out the scenarios than it is to clean and do mundane things. There are rare occassions when my husband and I, or my mother and I go on a cleaning spree and we usually get through 1 or 2 rooms. It goes back to its old condition very quickly. We almost never have guests.

This is a real problem for me. I never seem to get the motivation to keep up with it. I just moved. I decluttered for 4 month's before that. Now things are getting cluttered again already. lol I did move to a much smaller mobile. I just try to keep the kithchen clean enough to cook. I don't think I know how to keep my place free from clutter, and I never seem to get the energy to clean it like I know it needs.

Once in a while I give everything a complete blitz and then it starts to implode again - I really can't seem to manage to keep it clean and tidy at all. I try to keep one room tidy so when the rest of the houes is getting me down because of the chaos, I at least have somewhere to hide in.

I don't know it whether it is because of my difficulites or whether there really are just not enough hours on the day to get everything done.

At the moment I'm maintaining the neatness downstairs. A friend came round today, and it was really nice to be able to feel like I lived in a house someone could visit. The upstairs still needs to be tidied, and I'm a bit annoyed with myself for having somehow lost my bank card mid tidy... I'll probably have to cancel it or something. But still... it's just nice living in a clean house.
