How long does it normally take for meds to take effect? Is it instantaneous? Or a couple of weeks?

It depends on the person and the med. Normally it takes a week minimum, can take as long as 6 months

In my experience I have felt side effects within 1 week of starting new medication(s) and known whether they're working or not within 2-3 weeks. Try to pair your meds with a healthy diet, exercise and plenty of rest (8 hours of sleep a night). Touch base with your psychiatrist within your first month either way, good luck!

Lamictal for instance takes a number of weeks. Wellbutrin worked quite quickly for me, and Klonopin is also a fast acting drug.
