Oh wow! Great link. Finally people are starting to realize the fact that the people who suffer aren't confined to the weirdos on street corners that talk to themselves & proclaim the end of the world. We are all real people that don't deserve to be treated differently.

This is awesome. I wish more well known people would come forward and share their BP disorder with the public.
Thank you SunAngel

It is a stigma but at this point I don't care. I'm doing the best I can personally and I've worked with NIMH giving lectures & presentations to the community, etc. I'm not a bi-polar poster girl and I really don't expect people to understand it. I am a retired psych nurse!

I was just talking about the stigma yesterday with a fellow student who is a chaplain in the local mental hospital. He said he found the people to be sensitive and intelligent and he learned more from them than he had learned from anyone in a long time.

Of course, I just talked about my daughter working in the same hospital, and kept my mouth shut about my bipolar. That stigma is just too big for me to handle. I keep saying I'm coming out of the closet, but I think I have lost the key, and locked myself in.
