I had my very first experience with Psychosis last night. I was laying in bed and I began to hear heavy breathing behind me, I looked around and saw dark shadows walking about my room. I was hysterical. I couldn't gain control of myself. I was convinced it was real. I called a friend she came over and I then began to think she was a demon who was pure evil. It lasted about an hour or so. Don't really know, but I assume it was that long. I am now scared and freaking out. I am out of state so don't have access to my pdoc. I did call him and being as we agreed to take a natural route on my meds because of my liver he suggested valerian root. I at a loss for words, and am very shocked about my previous nights experience.

WoW, I am so sorry you had to experience that. I thought you and your pdoc decided to put you on meds. and he was going to monitor your liver?

Yes, psychosis is a very scary thing. Can your liver handle any meds. or none at all?

I am thinking about you.

Psychosis is why I finally had to get on meds. I sure hope the valerian root worked because psychosis sure can be scary. Even with meds, I still have bouts of perceptual disturbances when my anxiety is high. Its really hard to grasp that what I am seeing is not real. I am glad that you have a support system to help you through the hard times.
Thanks for this!

sunangel,
we did decide that, but until i get back into state he cannot do anything to help. I have an apt monday. We are going to do some tests on my liver and see where it is and what I can handle. Hopefully I will be back on full meds!
The valerian root did help my anxiety today, but now its getting closer to bed time, I am so scared that it might happen again.

You don't have anyone to stay with you either, huh?

I'm not sure there is a homeopathic way to handle psychosis. I hope you and your doc can come up with a plan.
Thanks for this!

That sounds scary. I'm sorry. When I've had psychosis it hasn't returned again in the same week or even month. (months later yes)

The scariest part of psychosis is never being sure if it will come back, get better, or get worse. My only suggestion is to knock yourself out with some sleep aids as soon as you get some sign of the psychosis. Did you get any weird warning signs before the heavy breathing? My head usually tends to "pulsate" as I describe it & I usually get a headache & some anxiety, coupled with weird visual disturbances. It's like a migraine with aura, which I also get sometimes, too. If there was a homeopathic cure for psychosis, I'd have found it ages ago. But... I don't mean to be discouraging. I wish you the best until you get back to your homestate to get treated. I know how scary it can be. Take care of yourself.

First: hugs for you. Second: I'm so sorry you had to experience this. I have bouts with psychosis and they terrify me. I think the valerian root was a good call until you get home. You might also try some chamomile tea or chamomile, lavender, or valerian essential oils (or really any scent you find soothing - I use sandalwood and jasmine but if I'm really having problems I reach for the valerian).
