I'd grab my box of insurance and important papers.
And I'd grab my computer, most of my pics are in it as well.

I lived through floods in Jan and have also give this deep thought since my house was inundated. I now have a flask which is fireproof, waterproof etc with birth certs etc hidden in the garage. I have an external hard drive where stuff is automatically saved so I would grab that, the kids and the cat which is what I left with when the water came. My husband grabbed passports, mob phones and my medication
Thanks for this!

I would grab my family pictures, laptop, purse with cell phone in it, my journals...
My best friend was in an apartment fire in the middle of the night, had to grab her dog's legs so hard to save her b/c she kept wanting to run to the backroom, but she only got her shoes/purse and cell phone b/c they were all towards the front...so scary!!

Yeah it was absolute trauma for them...she developed OCD-like symptoms afterwards-having to check and recheck everything in the house (even though it wasn't their fault it happened) and still worries constantly about their new house and about other people if they don't answer calls right away or havent heard from them...I wish she would go get counseling for the trauma!!
