a shower.

I have gone 3 whole days without showering when I am not manic like I am now. I also do not shave my legs in that amount of time.

When I am manic like I am, I am taking very good care of my hygiene.

How about you. Please be honest because I know we all suffer with this disorder and it is very difficult to take care of yourself when you are episodic.

I've been nearly 2 weeks, when i went through my worst depression ever. barely even moved from my sofa to be honest.
When i'm depressed i often go 3 or 4 days at a time.

I've gone 2 days. I can't stand anything longer than that.

Week is the longest I've gone without showering, brushing my teeth, shaving my face and combing my hair. I was in bad psychosis and depression during that time.

When I'm manic I shower twice a day, floss, work out 3-4 times a day, brush my teeth 4 times a day, house is nice and tidy etc.
Thanks for this!

When depression kicked in severly I never showered for a whole month I washed my hair though as my hair is very greasey and I always have to wash it daily. If I didn't leave the house then I wouldn't bother about showering/sink washing. If going out I would wash with a flannel at the sink but I would not clean properly

When I am "normal" or manic I wash daily up to 3 times a day.... doesn't help I have O.C.D lol!!

Miss Laura, I have severe OCD too, but when I am in a bad way with my BP, the BP wins out.

Just came off a week without showering or shaving. Had to force myself to this morning because of a job interview. When I'm in a bad way I frequently go days without showering.

Right now I am on 3 days. I just don't find the time when I am hypo. During depression I have gone a week and a half.
Thanks for this!

Wins out for me too. Not sure I can accurately answer the original question. My grasp of time is shaky at best, and in depression goes right out the window. At a guess? 4 days maybe? Yeah, I can't stand it, but I can't stand myself either already, so it seems to go hand in hand. It might be worse, but for -- as much as I loathe having to deal -- I generally have to go out of the house on a fairly regular basis.
Thanks for this!

I will go three to four days in depression, in severe depression, I'll go weeks without even brushing my teeth.
But in either hypo- or full blown mania, I will shower n shave several times a day.
Hell, now I need a shower....

8 days, but that was because we were dumb kids in scouts and loved being filthy. I used to go a week when i was manic because i had "way more important things to do."

Thankfully I've never been so depressed that I couldn't shower. That must be terrible; I need to feel clean... I think not showering would make me feel even more depressed, since I'd ruminate over what people think of me and my stench.

I could see how a severe lack of motivation and energy could lead to not showering, though. I'm still relatively young, so it may happen to me yet.

Gosh. I'm surprised how clean you guys are. I've gone over a month without showering or bathing. I've gone three days without going to the toilet, I just peed in a bucket. I guess I win the "repulsor" badge.

I think my longest was 4 days. I typically shower every other day, otherwise my hair and skin gets too dry.

Embarrassing as it is, for quite some time now, I shower once a week. I intend to do it more, but the days just seem to roll into each other. I do keep up with my other hygiene. I think I went longer without a bath when I found my cousin dead in his bed. Not really sure how long, I was in a completely nonfunctional for a couple of weeks.

4 or 5 days? I kept myself shaved inbetween showers & washed myself in the sink every so often, but I didn't bother brushing my teeth. Relatively recent stint, too. Ick.
Thanks for this!

WOW, so much of us are absolutely filthy.

I knew people who had Bp Disorder went days without showering. I bet if we were in the same room together or in an elevator, the smell would kill us all, or else we wouldn't really care because we are all in the same boat.

I don't think I'm fanatical or anything - I just can't go without a shower or two every day. I have pushed it to 28 hours a few times when manic because I had too much to do and delayed breakfast till midday.
Thanks for this!
