End of last year I became depressed and the beginning of this year that turned into a mixed episode despite trying to fight it with meds adjustments. The mixed episode became bad enough I checked myself into the hospital, not because I thought I was going to harm myself or someone else but because my P doc and I couldn't get it under control and I didn't know what else to do. It did finally lessen but I have been cycling between ok, depression, and mixed since then. I don't normally cycle like this so this is new to me. I am on my 4th antipsychotic since that epsiode - Seroquel XR, Saphris, Geodon, and now Latuda. I also take Lithium, Topomax, Adderall XR (for add), and Zyprexa (only as needed - side effects prevent me from using this daily) but took those before all this started. I have gone through mixed episodes before (since I have been diagnosed that is what I seem to mostly get).
This time, however, I had something happen that hasn't happened before. My memory was affected. My memory is now horrible. My memory used to be almost photographic, now I am lucky to remember what I did yesterday. I have a harder time remembering what I felt then what I did, which it used to be the memories of feelings were stronger memories. I know its not my meds doing this since the problem has been the same across the four different antipsychotics and the other meds I tooks prior to the episode when I did not have any memory issues. I have read about this happening. Has anybody had this happen to them? Did anything help get your memory back? Or was it just gone?

My memory has become terrible. I don't take any of the meds that you mention; only Lamictin, Wellbutrin XL and Klonopin, but it is really bad.
People have come to expect it from me now, and don't get too frustrated any more. I understand your frustrations! |

This has happened to me too when I have a mixed episode. For me events start blurring together (or don't come back at all) when normally I have no problem focusing or remembering. Last time I left my sons diaper bag with all his favorite stuffed animals in it right in the top of the cart at Walmart but it took me hours to figure that out because in my mind I really couldn't even remember taking the cart to the return..! I've never left anything at Walmart. I get so frustrated, too. I'm only on lithium and have no therapist currently so I just assumed it was normal. I would love to find out if there is anything that would help!

I had a deep depression episode that lasted a long time years ago and I don't remember much about it...all I know is I was very sick and sat on my porch chain smoking and drinking every day. My memory is still bad...sometimes I can not remember what I did yesterday. Meds can cause memory loss.
