Hi all I hope your all doing ok today.
If anyone's every read my posts you will know I've suffered depression for around 20yrs now and am awaiting a possible bipolar diagnosis pending psych looking over mood diary and ever changing cycles.
The problem I've been having is seeing and hearing things that aren't there, initially this was only happening when I was at my lowest or really anxious but now its constant. I'm not afraid as the things I hear and see are nothing to worry about,I'm just curious to know if anyone else has experienced similar things? I've also posted this in the depression thread to gather as many replies as I can.
As always any reply is gratefully received
Take care
JK

Hello JK,

I am diagnosed with Bipolar 1 Disorder, and have experienced hallucinations (both visual and auditory) during my manic episodes. I also experienced delusions and paranoia. I never had hallucinations during a depressive episode, but it is different for everyone.

My hallucinations would be hearing short sentences or noises, nothing elaborate. For my visual hallucinations, I usually saw shadowy figures running or floating on the wall.

Once I came down from my mania, the hallucinations disappeared. I hope that your hallucinations go away soon!

Yes. Not constantly though. I have heard music as if it were in the room being played by a radio and heard talking. I've seen people "disappear". Heard whispered talking. Seen the desk "melt". Had delusions and thought people were chasing me. I'm bipolar 1.

I have auditory hallucinations when in a mixed episode. Nothing scary. I either hear music or it sounds like the TV on in the other rooms (never loud enough to make out words) or I hear people talking (again never loud enough to make out words but I usually get the feeling they are talking about me).

That reminds me: When I hear voices they always seem to talk to me. Last time, it was giving me commands. Seemed to want my attention, saying "Hey." and "Look at me" etc. Other times, it just calls my name. Even the commands I didn't find scary, as I knew what was going on.

I experience psychosis when I am depressed, manic, mixed, or in a normal mood mode.

I hear voices that are either just talking, talking to me, demanding, or demeaning, external, internal, coming from objects in the room. Or ones that are commentating on my every move.

I also see things,, such as little people, cars in my backyard and such. I also have tactile hallucinations like saws across my face, ice cold spots on my body, bugs on my skin and hair, or really putrid smells.

I do get fearful of mine, I am glad you are not, that's a very good thing. I started having psychosis at 11 years old, before I was ever dx with Bipolar 1.

Glad I don't get hallucinations. I do get delusional. Sometimes I think I am the Antichrist and aam here to fight with Christ soon. Ughhhh! Its kind of funny. I actually can laugh about it. I take zyprexa for it and it works great. My mom is bipolar amd hears and feel things that are not there but my pdoc just has me down as Bioplar II which has be confused about mt Dx. I think I am Biolar I

Hi all thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with me,it makes me feel like I'm being understood as no one in my family have any kind of mental illness (thankfully)
I'm in the *UK* and my pdoc is crap to say the least but I hope he will listen to what I say in my next appointment. There's a possibility of bipolar this time, seems to change every year, they should of had my diagnosis sorted after all these years instead of just leaving me until I became suicidal.
You all seem to have so much knowledge on here and I'm so pleased my questions get answered, thank you everybody.
Take care
JK

No, even in my psychosis I didn't experience that. But I did think ppl were out to get me and were listening in on me. But it didn't get to the point that I heard or saw things.

Hi Moose thanks for the insight, last night I was half asleep in bed and I thought there was a tinkerbell like fairy whispering to me,I know it sounds absolutly ridiculous but to me it felt real.
I didn't tell my husband as it just sounds so far fetched, this is by far the most realistic auditory and visual hallucination I've had yet, plus I'm definatly noticing a pattern of this occuring when I'm most anxious and depressed.
I'm so worried that my pdoc won't believe me
Thank you for your support
JK

Why won't your pdoc believe you? Mine seems to believe everything I tell her. She has lots of books on bipolar on her shelf and all...
