I have never had an issue at work before. Work has always been my safe haven and where I can stay neutral. Today I feel like I'm going 100 miles per hour. On the phone the person on the other end was complaining that she was only getting about half of what I was saying. I have had a confrontation at work with a disgruntled employee and I want to explode. I'm trying to breathe and calm down but I haven't gotten that far in therapy. Any one know any calming or cooling down techniques??

I struggle with the out-of-control feelings when it's at work, as it's harder to take time for yourself to cool down. Just trying to think back to what I've done in the past, and I think I count as I breathe? In... two.. three ..... out... two... three. If you can find a quiet space to do this (even in the toilets!) it's really simple but it really does just focus your thoughts a little. I am terrible at things like meditation because my mind wanders so quickly even when I'm not in a racing-thoughts state, but just countring and breathing seems to help me a little. Hope you manage to calm down xx

I am sorry you are experiencing this. I know it is hard. I always close my eyes and try to clear my mind. I also try to think of something positive that I am excited or happy about. something I am proud of myself over or something I am looking forward to. I really like the breathing technique also that espritlibre explained as well. I really hope these work out for you enough to get you through your day.

My therapy that we did the relaxation stuff was over a year ago... My memory is bad but one of them was to find some place quite, if you can, think of 5 things you hear, see, smell, touch, I think I forgot one but anyway, by the time you "do" these & if you can calm your breathing while doing this, maybe it can diffuse your anger.
Just a suggestion, hope it helps.

Just to be clear, it's 5 smell, 5 things you see, 5 things you hear ( try to make these pleasant), and so on...
Thanks for this!
