Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I have felt like I was in good place medicine wise and now I am pre-menstrual and am SOOOOOO irritable I can't stand it. I have absolutely NO patience and am irritated with everything. Any thoughts? I want to go back to the happy place I was in just yesterday

ETA: I'm on Lamictal 100mg, Buspar 45mg, Lexapro 20mg, and 0.5mg Klonopin PRN

My wife increases her Depakote by 250 mg a day during that time (with her pdoc's approval, of course) and it really helps her.

Two months ago she went back on the pill, even though she has had a tubal and it has helped not only when premenstral, but it has helped her Depakote work better all month long by evening out her hormones.

Hope this helps.

I have been unable to take the pill because instead of evening out my hormones, it seem to throw everything much further out of whack. Your mileage may vary, but being on the pill made me even crazier!

I don't amend my meds, but my pdoc has often asked me to consider if my moods are at times not driven by my monthly cycle.
It would make perfect sense to increase your meds if your pdoc agrees

I've never thought of that. My cycle give me huge problems, mood wise. Hmm something to think about.

My doctor and I talked about increasing my AD during the premenstrual period, but nothing came of it at the time.

I'd never considered that, but my menstrual cycle kind of does its own thing regardless. Only thing I've noticed is that my mood gets really, really dark a couple of days before I start, but I don't know that it's really worth a mention otherwise.

Never have, as my mood cycling doesn't have any corrrelation with the "other" cycle.

I have thought of tweaking meds to deal with the pms, but take preventative measures during that time. Mostly charting and realizing it is that time, getting enough rest, exercising, and letting others know I am irritable-that seems to diffuse it a lot.

Yeah, I get pretty hyper-emotional for a couple days just before my period. It's enough of a shift that at some point I realize, hey, this isn't normal, even for me. And then I check the calendar, and cut myself some slack - the estrogen and progesterone shortage just really seems to screw me over.
